Timing Belt Change

Your welcome!

Yours needs to be the later chassis number for the waterpump to be right (according to parts lists) my 02 plate uses same belt kit but earlier waterpump according to parts lists (still need to do mine lol)

Dropped in at my local indi garage on Friday to order a new intercooler support bracket, apparently discontinued in Dec 2020 but rang though to his TPS supplier.
Called me back 15mins later only four left, one arriving on Mon / Tue for Little Atom. 75bhp tdi.
Also asked about having a timing belt and water pump kit as I have nothing in the service sheets from when I got it, now at 135K so must have been done a few times, £375 quoted.
I also asked about the timing chain kit for the oil pump, he said not to bother with it they last for a long time and he has hardly ever seen an issue with them.
Its certainly not making any noise.

With timing belts I feel it is just not worth the risk especially considering the damage a failure can cause. I have bought an A2 1.4 petrol with 68k miles. I know I have paid over the odds for it however, intend on keeping it for the wife. It has full service history and had the belts changed approximately 14k miles ago.... but that was 5/6 years ago. The belts deteriorate over time. So told trader to change belt/water pump and ancillaries if required as part of the deal. He is sending it to a garage I know from previous work so happy with that. Offers piece of mind.

I need to do mine as I don't have all the history with my car so I best assume it hasn't been done and I'll do it myself.

Looking on ECP, there are 3 kits (plus a 2nd Dayco without tensioner) after I enter my Reg (52 plate AMF car)
Dayco
INA
SKF
Hmm looks like this one is no longer available.

Should I go for the Dayco or the INA for my 1.4 AMF diesel?
Dayco, Ina, SKF and Gates are all fine kits: I've used all four brands over the years with no issues at all.

Not sure what kit will be used as the dealer will be getting a garage to complete the task before I collect. It is part of the deal.

Cheers
Paul
