My a2 is due to have the timing belt changed I was thinking of using Stafford audi as advertised on e bay. Has anybody out there used them and would you recommend them ???£275 sounds good as i have been quoted up to £400.Any info on this dealer would be appreciated. cheers

Just had mine (including tensioner and the water pump) done by an Audi indy centre in Cleethorpes. Cost £419 but that included new front brake disks and pads.

£275 sounds good but they probably haven't included the water pump etc. Makes sense to do the whole lot at once.

VW Heritage Westbury Wiltshire quoted:

1) MOT - £50.35 inc
2) 2 Year Variable Service - £199 inc
3) Cambelt and Tensioner & Water Pump with Auxillary belt and Tensioner - £420 inc
4) Brake Fluid - special rate of £19.99 inc.

They say the Cambelt etc. is discounted as part of the package with 1) & 2). Item 4) was some after quote haggling when I realised the Brake Fluid ought to be changed.

I've put off the evil payment day for 7 weeks by sticking in on the credit card

I had my cambelt and service carried out by Stafford Audi in May and they seem to be geared towards servicing cars than selling them, which a good thing. A free courtesy car was offered, but I declined preferring a lift into town for a fine day of sitting in the park for 6 hours.

They called to see if I wanted the wiper blade changed (I did) at £14, but I missed their call to say my car was ready to collect. When I called back I was picked up within 10mins and seen straight away by the friendly fully staffed service desk.

All the locks and hinges were greased along with the Open-Sky, which now operates smoothly.

The cost was £275 for cambelt, £70 for water pump and I had the fixed ‘silver’ service (as I only cover 5k pa) at £129. I’ll be using their £79 ‘bronze’ service next year…

I'm going to have my car fully serviced at stafford audi in the next couple of weeks. Do you know what car protection kit means, is it really worth the extra £100 for the gold service?

Not sure what the protection kit is (could just mean paper mats and a plastic seat cover), but as I understand the 'gold' service is recommended at 80k and includes plugs and all filters (inc. fuel filter).

I had all those changed in a drop in session not so long ago, except for plugs.. may do gold because im on 120k now

Don't think i'll go to audi bath again!!!!

Just been told I need a new cam belt and was quoted £580 by Audi Bath, cannot believe the quotes you guys had! Audi Bath must be completely ripping people off! Oh and that was JUST for the belt (inclu VAT, parts, labour etc!) nothing else to do on the car at all!

Can't praise Stafford Audi enough although the price they quote for the variable service at £175 they tell me is dependent on mileage - I rang them for the service of my 03 A2 43k and they quoted £235.

However the timing belt for their price is unbeatable! My first A2 was in there last year for the belt and water pump (+£70). Customer service is A1 with more 'mature' staff on reception. I limped in there with a puncture a few months back and they bent over backwards to sort me and locate a new tyre from their local dealer and it was only £50 fitted.

For both services I have tried to play them off against Audi dealers closer to me - no way will any other match it!
