Timmus in the South East - Summer 2021

A2OC Donor
Hello good people of A2OC,

The easing of the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions means that, once again, I am able to travel to provide A2 services. I'd like to thank everyone who has brought their A2 to me over the last months and supported me during these challenging and uncertain times. It is much appreciated.

I'm acutely aware that I still owe a number of club members replies to their messages. Unfortunately, being my own secretary, I can struggle to reply to private messages promptly when work is busy. Rest assured, no message goes unanswered and I will get back to you. Thanks for your patience.

From Friday 11th June, I intend to base myself in Leighton Buzzard, just to the north of London. Massive thanks are owed to @Proghound for allowing me to work and sleep at his house. The length of my stay in Leighton Buzzard is determined almost solely by the demand for my time, though I must be back in Lancaster by Friday 9th July for a physiotherapy appointment. The weekend of 26/27 June is also reserved for the memorial of a friend who passed away during the 1st Covid lockdown.
It is also my hope/intention to visit @Ami’s workshop in Horsham. This will make my services available to some club members who aren't able to get to Leighton Buzzard. Leighton Buzzard is the default location for all unless otherwise arranged.

I shall do my utmost to fulfil as many requests as possible. However, please be aware that there are some limitations to the range of services that I can provide when away from home. For example, some upgrades require parts that I won't have the space to transport. Some parts may be out of stock or unavailable due to Brexit or the continued impact of the pandemic. I also cannot complete all upgrades at weekends, so I'd be grateful if Saturdays and Sundays were left available to those with no alternative. The final limitation is that there's only one of me, for which many are surely much relieved!

At the bottom of this message, I have tagged many club members who have made contact with me in recent months who may appreciate my greater proximity. However, this is not an exhaustive or exclusive list; my services are open to all who are able to meet me.

For those who are unfamiliar with my services, an overview can be seen here:

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom, are there any software updates due for the colour DIS?
Since I did the installation in your car last year, I'd suggest there probably are some updates. It's unlikely that any major new features have been added, but it's nevertheless worthwhile. :)

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom could book a slot at around midday on Friday 11th in the for colour Dis install if that’s free?
Hello sir!

As things stand, no jobs have yet been scheduled. If I was to drive down on the evening of Thursday 9th, I'd be happy to kick things off with a Colour DIS installation at midday on Friday. :)

Cheers,

Tom

Afternoon Tom,

Hope your well. Can I get booked in one afternoon or evening for a Xcarlink install that I bought from Sir Birchall. ?

Thank you and @Proghound for this opportunity.

Nice1,

Hi Tom,

Would asking you to fit a replacement bumper to "Delinquent" be below your pay grade? The light switch is missing some lights at night.

Leighton Buzzard would be great, if you can slot me in.

Regs,

Simon

Of course, Mo. It will be great to see you.

I shall await more replies before starting to construct a timetable that (hopefully!) suits everyone, but you're on the list.

Warm regards,

Tom

Hi Simon,

Not at all! If you're able to bring the replacement bumper to Leighton Buzzard, I'll happily do the swap for you. It'll be good to see you.

Cheers,

Tom

Glad to hear the news, it's much earlier than I had anticipated. Horsham would be better for me, but Leighton Buzzard would also work. I can be quite flexible. As we have discussed before, I am looking to retrofit cruise control, sort the order stalk with the reset button, install the second rear foglight, and the imperial to metric conversion. Just out of curiosity, do you still have colour DIS available?

Thanks

Hello Tom,

Very good news about you coming! Will arrange everything to be able to visit you at Leighton Buzzard. If you have a slot the 11th, please book me in.

Thank you very much in advance! Looking forward meeting you in person!

Indeed, it's come about sooner than I expected, too. However, there's a good window of opportunity in my schedule, so it's happening. :)

Horsham would be better for me, but Leighton Buzzard would also work.
Leighton Buzzard will be my base, with a brief 'satellite trip' to Horsham to provide services for those who definitely cannot get to Leighton Buzzard. So, if you are able to get to Leighton Buzzard, that would be preferable, as my time in Horsham is probably going to be stretched.

All noted. 'Project Sicily' is happening!
I currently have 10 Colour DIS instrument clusters in stock, a majority of which are already assigned to club members. However, I suspect I have one or two spare.

Cheers,

Tom

I have sent you a private message, Max. :)

Tom, I'd like to book myself in for the long-heralded SideGuard & ColourDIS installations please. Also I would like the lumbar support looms for the forthcoming platinum sports seats installed (I doubt I will have gotten around to the swap itself by then however. If you could also do the twin fogs and boot lights too while we're there, that'd be awesome but these are not the priority.

I appreciate the SG installation in particular is a big job, let me know if there's anything else you'd suggest I'd consider from your services while the car is apart - Go ahead and tempt me!

I think on balance Horsham is the easier of the two locations for me. Let me know how long this list of jobs would demand of your time and what date(s) would be possible). Thanks to @Ami in advance for hosting!

Hi Tom, good to know your getting out and about for the members, I'm sure you are seriously in demand so I'd better get my order asap.
My good lady has asked me what I want for my birthday this year to which I replied without thinking "Tom's services".........ah I now realised from the puzzled look on her face what I'd actually said☺ anyway I would like to book in advance for the 14th July as that is my birthday or a day close after the 14th. I would like cruise control fitted and second rear fog light. Please let me know what will be good for you as I know that's the month after your trip to buzzard.

Regards, Mark

Excellent, David. That is all possible, though it'll be an early start and a late finish. I'm OK with that if you are.
There was also talk of a MFSW. Are we delaying that until another time?

My trip to Horsham remains uncertain, as it will depend on Ami's availability during my time based in Leighton Buzzard. Leighton Buzzard will be my base, with a brief 'satellite trip' to Horsham to provide services for those who definitely cannot get to Leighton Buzzard. One member, for instance, is unable to drive for more than about 30 minutes due to a medical condition. To do a full SideGuard installation, especially with other bits and pieces alongside, I'll need to be in Leighton Buzzard.
This was a little unclear in my original post, so I’ve edited it. Sorry for the confusion.

Looking forward to finally meeting you.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Mark,

The plan is for me to arrive in Leighton Buzzard on June 11th. From previous experiences, my stays usually last between two and three weeks. So, even though there's currently no scheduled end date for my stay in Leighton Buzzard, I think the likelihood of me still being there by July 14th is extremely slim. Whilst I expect to be busy, I can't see A2 owners keeping me busy every day for 5 consecutive weeks. I'd probably also find that my partner had left me if I was working away for so long!

I'll need to await further replies before a firm schedule can be drawn up. It'd be great to meet you and deliver your birthday present ...even if it is a little early! :)

Cheers,

Tom

Will you still be in Leyton Buzzard on the 25th of June Tom, as I have a day off booked in already? Failing that I can see if I can get a day in earlier;)
