Timmus in the South East

A2OC Donor
Hello good people of A2OC,

Since the easing of the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, I've only been working on A2s from home. I'd like to thank everyone who has brought their A2 to me and kept me (extremely!) busy during these times of great uncertainty.

I'm acutely aware that I still owe a number of club members replies to their messages. Unfortunately, being my own secretary, I can struggle to reply to private messages promptly when work is busy. Rest assured, no message goes unanswered and I will get back to you. Thanks for your patience.

Before this unusual year draws to a close, I need to seize the opportunity to climb a few mountains. Those who have met me are probably aware that, outside A2s and professional audio systems, mountains are a great passion of mine. I shall be sailing from Dover to continental Europe on Friday 4th September, where I shall find much larger mountains than those in the UK.

Prior to that sailing, I intend to base myself in Leighton Buzzard, just to the north of London. Massive thanks are owed to @Proghound for allowing me to work and sleep at his house. The date of my arrival in Leighton Buzzard depends entirely on how much demand there is for my time and services, but it won't be before Monday 24th August.

I shall do my utmost to fulfil as many requests as possible. However, please be aware that there are some limitations to the range of services that I can provide when away from home and doing jobs at relatively short notice... Some upgrades require a lot of advance planning and purchasing of parts. Some upgrades require parts that I won't have the space to transport. Some parts (such as those needed for Colour DIS) are currently out of stock. I also cannot complete all upgrades at weekends, so I'd be grateful if Saturdays and Sundays were left available to those with absolutely no alternative. The final limitations are time and the fact that there's only one of me (for which my girlfriend is eternally relieved!).

At the bottom of this message, I have tagged many club members who have made contact with me in recent months who may appreciate my greater proximity. However, this is not an exhaustive or exclusive list; my services are open to all who are able to meet me.

For those who are unfamiliar with my services, an overview can be seen here:
Kind regards,

Tom

Greetings Tom

I would very much like to sort out my three door locks. Can I please go on to your Leighton Buzzard list. "The delinquent" is now running well with a replacement throttle body courtesy of Steve.

Kind regards

Simon

I’m willing and able to visit you in Leighton Buzzard anytime you can squeeze me in. Few things to do including cruise and a komfortblinker. Let us know when you are ready. Thanks a million.

Fantastic news!! I look forward to meeting you in Leighton Buzzard, and to the upcoming Bose installation!

Cheers
Mihai

Thanks for tagging me Tom. Why is it when redundancy hits the vehicles I own need large injections of cash, the A2 project refurb was committed to prior to my redundancy and swiftly following that my RS4 DRC suspension failed so I’ve had to sink another £2k on coil overs. Then the A2 needed the fuel filter screw replaced and a week or so later it’s popped a boost hose (still waiting to get into my local specialist to finally diagnose).

The main upgrade I’m longing for from you is the colour DIS and I see that’s out of stock, so nothing lost from this opportunity. I’ll pop up to you when income resumes for the colour dis and cruise control.

Evening Tom,

If your route come past Coalville I have a little soldering job for you. Should be quick with your fantastic skills.

All of the following task are sat as dead tails in the passenger underfloor storage area.

1. Reverse wire to green connector (auto dimming mirror)
2. Rear PDC harness
3. Second 12 socket connected to original
4. Plug in SideGuard and code into the car

Before you arrive I will have the front seats and transmission tunnel removed to save time. It’s just a ‘bit’ of soldering along with programming SideGuard to the car.

Let me know if you can swing by on your travels.

As for adding Colour DIS, I’ll have to wait until you have stock of parts along with more time available on your travels.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello Tom -
Hope to see you when you're back, sometime in October maybe.
Trevor

If you need a place to sleep for Bristol/ Bath/Gloucestershire
You are always welcome here Tom
Thank you, Terry. Maybe that can finally include the Audi 100 job that I've been meaning to tackle for years!

On this occasion, I'm not doing a retrofitting tour but rather temporarily relocating my workshop to Ian's house in Leighton Buzzard. I shan't be doing household-to-household tours until the Covid-19 pandemic is a little further into history, but this model of working should allow me to responsibly serve club members in the South East. To be able to do the same for club members in the South West from your place would be wonderful, though it won't be until 2021 due to (lack of) space in my schedule.

Warm regards to you both, and Bernie (of course! ?).

Ouch! That's not good for Bernie or your wallet. With Jessica being a vet, my evenings are frequently filled with stories of veterinary surgery ...and the astronimical bills that've mounted up. Jessica always likes me to make it clear that the medical supplies cost a lot more than her time.

Look forward to seeing you again, too. :)

Hi Tom,
I wonder if when you're in the S.E., that you might be able to sort out that blue coolant pipe that needs to be replaced? Thanks

David
