He has but says he wants one with a towbar, I told him they are rare as hens teeth!!

By co-incidence I saw one with a towbar in Hastings today - a TDI 90 no less - in Dolphin Grey.

Wondered if it was anyone on here?

Was it for sale?

Today I removed the false floor from my breaker and fitted into my silver Tdi, at first glance you'd think it was a 5min job but oh no. You have to factor in the A2 build quality and it turns into a 2hr job ? but hey I'm happy with the end result

Today my TDI90 got hit by a young chap in a Nissan Almera. .
100% his fault as he admitted.
I was on my way back home from EuroCarParts in St Albans having picked up new Mann cabin and engine air filters for Project FSI. Fairly low speed collision but I was flabbergasted to see only a little obvious damage to either car. Offside front corner of mine, nearside front corner of his.
If I hadn’t braked hard he would definitely have T-boned me in the doors.

I was not a happy bunny and slightly ashamed I was “really quite rude” despite his apologies. After swapping details I drove off and noticed the intake noise was “throaty”. The bumper has a couple of stretch marks that may well be splits under the paint. After putting the car up on ramps, removing the engine undertray, air filter inlet and outlet tubes, headlamp and fog light I could see that the worst damage is to the air filter housing which is in several bits. There is also a latch broken off the inner part of the bumper where it clips onto another stiff plastic moulding near the top of the air filter housing.

There are several coincidences to this: the fact I had been out for a new air filter element, the fact I am planning to go to pick up an air filter housing next weekend from @Proghound for my FSI which also has a (much less) broken one. Add to that I’m pretty certain my wife used to teach this chap Geography at school despite him not being from St Albans.

So, I am looking for a second air filter housing... and possibly a bumper in Ebony black metallic.

I would appreciate staying off the subject of insurance on this matter, (thanks), should you wish to reply. Suffice to say we are both covered.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that Matt. Isn't it really annoying that however much care we may take in our own driving, there's always someone else's lack of attention out to get us and cause damage to our pride and joy.

I'm now really hoping that my breaker still has that part on for you. The front hasn't been off the ground and it looks too big to have come out upwards, so fingers crossed ...

I wouldn't apologise for feeling the way you did, would be worse if you said "oh are you alright petal" when really your seething inside. Best to get it out, that way he might think next time to drive with Due care and attention! Hang on a minute? Insurance and the long arm of the law. A young French girl hit me a few years ago worrying about her lipstick instead of watching the road. Don't you just love them!

Thanks Ian, you’re right, it comes out the bottom, at least now I know how. The top bolt is a 4-letter one without 2 wobble bar extensions, at least with the bumper in place. I’ve ordered one from eBay that should arrive at work on Tuesday but I still want yours obviously.

Yesterday... I had a call from an Insurance Assessor. He said they will repair Alison if the damage is superficial. He has already checked availability of the parts needed with Audi... Alison will be returning to the Body Shop and will be stripped down for inspection... Fingers crossed! ?
