Check your Coolant Flange. And the Tandem Pump End Gasket. Diesel leaks from these and attacks the Coolant Flange Gasket and the various Coolant Pipes in that area... New End Plate Gaskets are available separately from Darwen Diesels...Today I... did a filters and oil service on my car and tried to hunt down the cause of my coolant loss.
Head gasket leak test on the coolant to check for contamination with combustion was negative - whew...
I found coolant dripping from the underside of the gearbox on the near side. Directly under the header tank. No obvious coolant anywhere else. I’m thinking it’s leaking from the tank. The cap, when fully tightened, still had quite a bit of play land movement. Luckily I had a spare so I swapped and the replacement didn’t move at all. Perhaps just a bad seal on the cap. Fingers crossed.
While I was in there I noticed that the big silver intercooler pipe across the front of the engine was seriously rattly and mobile. The little rubber block and bolt on the middle seemed to have no grip at all. I tightened it up and a serious amount of rattle seems to have gone.
Fingers crossed that my problems are sorted.
