Today I.....

Not quite as far as you might think. I've been mountaineering in the Gran Sasso massif over the last week, so Naples was only three hours away.

Eh, indeed ...hopefully not. I think I probably flirted more with death in the Gran Sasso.

Cheers,

Tom
"Vedi Napoli e poi muori!" is not really about dying, but my "hope not" was for you to return and not the more historical meaning of being in awe of the beauty and never wanting to leave (and eventually dying there) as anywhere else is inferior. Most likely not true in this day and age.

Today Spud, my FSI decided to conk out again! Had driven for 90 mins or so around town. Popped into BnQ for stuff, came out, got onto roadway n stopped!
Wouldnt restart. Scanned n got P0191 code. Cleared but no different. Waited 20 mins. Restarted n ran like a sewing machine up the M5 to home.
Did same about 8 weeks ago. Thought that time maybe due to low fuel level as was in the red. This time it was full.
Hey ho, thats FSI's for ya!

Possible fuel filter issue, try putting a fresh one on. If you ran it nearly dry previously it possibly wouldn't suck hard enough.

... discovered that cleaning up the rear carpet wasnt going to work.

I dont know what was spilled - looks like some sort of varnish, glue or lacquer type material
Tried panel wipe, WD40, Brake cleaner and Isopropyl Alcohol & none of it softens it up.

So will have to cast a wider search for a replacement rear 5 seater rear carpet in this colour or an entire replacement carpet set in a different colour.
A2steve hasnt got one just yet.

So today I ... a fairly s**ty time ...

Had a phone call to say “ egg “
Was on fire , cue fire bridge and much fun

Cut short trip to Scotland , and trashed back home to inspect egg

Given flames was seen under the car , and huge amount of smoke , the end results are not to bad ....

It appears that the starter motor has jammed on , and got rather hot
On the plus side , The A/C pipe work , rubber hose to dyer has also popped , and very usefully put out the flames ...
For the record , all the foam sound deadening to the undertray has burned off , a rather hot lump of copper appears to have landed on the a/c pipe work , and then degased the a/c by melting a hole in it

now considering options

😲
Really sorry to read this Mark but like you say, it could have been so much worse. I've been to many many car fires but never one that put itself out, kudos!

What is the part called I can’t make it out from the photos
Today I...

...was in Rome, where I retrofitted rear electric windows and some lovely heated leather Sport seats with electric lumbar support. Definitely a long day, but the car's transformation was hugely satisfying.

Cheers,

Tom

I don't think the carpet is different on the 4 or 5 seater cars
