Today I.....

Just spent 2 days cleaning A2 for Agreed Value Insurance: wash, wax, gummi pflege on rubbers, blacked some of the outside black plastic, vinyl cleaner, meguiars headlight cleaner, glass cleaner, RainX. Not as good as Darren C recent clean! Didn't clay or shampoo seats as did that last year. Had to take a photo of the engine compartment, not that it shows much with the sound deading cover. Difficult to clean. Maybe time to consider a steam clean. At least they don't want a picture underneath - small mercies ;)

I've never cleaned the headliner - has anyone done that and if so with what and how?

So today I

Have a brief look over the 1.4 color storm

Brought due to Egg , setting fire to himself earlier in the week

Needs a bit of love and a good clean , new paint to rear wheel aches , and bits and bobs

Really nice smooth drive , and was nice filling up the smaller tank

Net results are , not bad for a 15 year old car ,3 owners and serviced at 5k intervals

Fingers crossed minimum works require 3DD1578C-98E2-486C-BA65-2F09094D16FC.jpeg

Today I finally have an update on the 225-pound A2.

It started with a second chance at life by having a new cam belt fitted (the one coming off was on it for 100k miles, judging by the history). Then gave the interior a good clean, treated the leather and fitted some new Ambassador mats. Finally I had the TT wheels fitted, together with 4 Hankook Prime 3s (the original SE wheels will be appearing in the Market section at some point). Happy with it so far. ? It has been in the Netherlands twice until now, and it has munched the motorway miles with ease. Just over 206k on the clock at the moment.

It must be normal as Boris does it sometimes and the only code showing up is to do with the thermostat :) ? ?

Well Spud, my FSI ran like clockwork today. Just a 270 mile run. However when I came to fill up, and removed the fuel filler cap, I noted an inrush of air. Iwonder if the breather hose is blocked, creating a partial vacuum in the tank?
Something worth investigating, if I can find the fuel tank breather hose!

I imagine the breather is the the same with the FSI...

Very happy so far, has factory Bose, denison, cruise control & winter pack in Pearl effect ebony black.

Chap selling could not be less interested in it, even chucked in roof bars for free.

Looks like I may be selling the Island Green!

None of this was mentioned in the advert, I guess you have to be lucky sometimes

So far on the short 40 mile drive home I’ve found that there is one wheel centre cap missing,

and that the passenger front drivers spring or top mount (maybe) makes itself just heard when reversing around a bend.

Congratulations on securing what looks like a stunning A2, with some nice options. Look forward to seeing more pictures and some of the interior too.

I have! I deep clean Alison's interior every year. I use warm soapy water, a damp cloth and the foaming interior cleaner tins from Halfords seems to work well... ?

So today ...

I collected “Basil “ from the guys at WOM , once again the chaps have worked their magic and skills , Basil now has fully working AC , this was an element of the engine rebuild which I thought I had cracked , but it was not to be ...

New compressor, dryer , and a couple of seals later , I drove home in a ice box

I also started the repairs to Egg , my TDI 75 , following the engine bay electrical fire , and it’s proving to be a pain in the rear ..managed to extract the washer fluid bottle , which was damage by heat , plus the filling hose had melted , fitted the replacement one , which is slightly bigger/ by about 1lt , only to find I was then unable to get to a key bolt for the steering pump , which had to be moved , to get the the washer bottle fixing , so the old adage , reverse steps to re-assemble don’t work ...

It’s now beer o’clock time ,....C6A0B186-7731-4102-9B53-3B54BF51907F.jpeg

Love those wheels! You say they are TT wheels? What would be the size / name I’d search for on the eBay?
