Today I.....

fuel light came on today, so filled up with a tank of shell, worked out the mpg and rather impressed with 71.8mpg for 95% motorway/dual carriage run, the rest of the miles where run into Blackpool and a couple of trips to from work, total of 438 before the fuel light came on (smaller 34 litre tank)
The motorway trip from St Annes to Silverstone and back was done in 2hours 50 mins (sat nav was predicting 3:11) so I was not hanging about and certainly not driving for economy, extensive use of CC and only about a mile of 50mph on M6 plus the A50 dual carriage way which was mainly 70 except a few miles at 40 to 60

Oh and the leather seats are sooooooo comfy, they are SE heated seats and maybe the leather makes them firmer and therefore suit me, as I never got on well with cloth SE seats, they made my lower back ache, but after 3 hours in the A2 each way my back was fine

Completed the second Dundee to Plymouth to Dundee run in 3 weeks, this time featuring @timmus ' newly-retrofitted cruise and Colour DIS. Cruise made it effortless - I felt a lot less fatigued particularly after the prolonged 50mph-average limit stretch on the M6, and having the fuel stats visible was really handy for the first time. Windy conditions and necessity to maintain average speed meant the consumption suffered rather (colour DIS telling me I need to change up from 5th was rather amusing - it's as if it wants me to buy an MYP).

Today I got up early and did the oil and filter change (after waiting for the 36mm socket to come), I also changed the temp gauge sender, so now I have a stable display of low temp, o'well thermostat next, just googling the best price for a 10mm flexible ratchet spanner, as that looks a right pain to do otherwise.

Today I also just squeezed in a wiper arm swap for a freshly refurbished one, thank you @depronman!
And a quick wash and wax whilst the sun was out.

they are SE heated seats
If they're the Swing grey seats for which I installed the heated seat wiring looms, I could swear they were Sport seats. Admittedly early Sport seats without lumbar adjustment, but Sport seats nonetheless. Have I remembered wrong?

Cheers,

Tom

..and then it would tell you to change up to 7th- we'd have a postal on our hands :D

No, Tom you are indeed 100% correct, that does explain why I found them as comfortable as my cloth sports seats doh, because they are indeed leather sports seats. I think brain went into SE seat mode because of the lack of lumbar switches.

The seats must have about the right amount of lumbar support present because my back was fine.
The heating works very well, but is a little less hot compared to the after market heaters that I fitted to the cloth sports seats, or the leather does not pass as much heat through as the cloth does.

Not today but the day before yesterday - the orange tip of the dipstick dropped off into the engine, grrr, can't check the oil level.
Depronman will sort me out for a new one.

I hope you remembered to remove your locking key before you drove off!
I think it is in the socket attached to the breaker bar. As it rained all day yesterday I have not been to check. Edit, looking at the picture I'm more concerned I may have left the valve cap on the wheel.

Was that a genuine fold flat emergency wheel, looks brand new.
Yes it was supplied new in a 2002 car. I think by 2003 the fold flat had been deleted or was a cost option so when I traded my first A2, which I kept for just 12 months, I had it swapped to the new car that I still have. Only the second time it has been used.

Today I ...

Trial fitted my new to me arm rest , which , was purchased via the very useful market place the arm rest is destined for “Basil “ , and he has the rear cupboard fitted , so a session of fettling was required

The arm rest would not fit over a rear cupholder , due to the way the lower tube work is bent , however the use of a conduit bender , and rather large hammer reforms the bends to clear the cupholder
Sorry , due to “Basils “ summer holidays with WOM autos , there are not photos showing the cupholder in place , but from memory it follows the same lines as the transmission tunnel cover

If you have a go at this yourself , beware the steel tube work hardens very quickly , so limit the amount of attempts at bending .....

So project egg gets the arm rest for a couple of more weeks

I've got an arm rest in my A4................most useless bit of kit ever, gets in the way makes access to the rear seats a pain if you have it folded up..........only my personal view but happy to be without it.

Today I drove from Bridport to Newcastle in my A2, about a 380 mile trip. In that entire time I only passed 1 other A2 which was about 10 minutes into the journey, where were you all?!

Whilst driving, the odometer tipped over the 120k mile mark, also it has been over 6000 miles since @timmus fitted all of the goodies that make my life SO much better (cruise, bose etc), so much gratitude to him for his excellent work.
