Today I.....

so today ...

or rather 15 years ago , I collected my 1st a2 , a 1.6 fsi with 6k miles on from available cars , with a huge array of extras for the sum of £9,000.00 less px on a ford fester 1.4 tdi ghia .... I was blown away by the Audi product , and 15 years later , i am still amazed by those little cars

reviewing my expenses claims , I have driven the following mileages over the years

1. 1.6 fsi , 220,651
2. 1.4 tdi , 75 bhp , 34,412
3, 1.4 tdi , 90 bhp 31,531
4. 1.4 , 610

all the cars have been amazing, and each has been given a name

the 1.6fsi , had the lower flaps fault from 60k onwards until I moved it onwards ,the repairs over the years was , cv joint , battery , alternator, and 7 coil pack
the 75 tdi , wish bones , and starter motor , temp sensor for coolant , roll bar bushes
the 90 tdi , just about all the moving parts , including engine , gear box ...
1.4 , air vent and slider pin of front brake calliper

would I buy a new one , yes ! ...l.

Funny enough 1 year today I brought Boris !!! :) :D

In that year I have owned 5 A2’s and plan to buy More !!!:)

UPDATE ???i have just had full refund as they say the TRW / lemforder arms do not fit the 1.4 tdi only the petrol one surely they did not make two different lower arms ?? Help needed please .
on a more positive note just went down the garage to pick up the other a2 with all new brakes and the new Audi A8 winter wheels lovely ? the front 205 16 tyres just sit within arch if you put a straight edge down ..

I want your wheels ...!!! ? Have you had them re-drilled to correct Bolt pattern or are you using adapters? Sorry if you have covered this already

Hi Ross I have covered (under wheels) but no probs yes wheel adapters from 5x100 to 5x112 I ended up with 2 sets of wheels these were new ..and a dear member from Holland Menno he got me the original set ..his are in the post above 6.5 kilo each ..just had all this done ✅
Car is such a different drive ..?

Adjusted the headlight aim which I inadvertently altered when I removed for cleaning.

Thank you Birchall for the ‘how to’ instructions.

I have been advised it will be the same ...not planning to do until feb ...but I will take some measurements and do a proper comparison ? and post on here ..
I wish to lower mine 20 or 25 mm but with no compromise on rubbing the arches every time I put a bag in backseats
 
That will be no problem even with my 7j wide wheels 205 50 16 tyres and lowered an inch it would not foul ..Joey (a2alcholic) on this forum has same setup exactly and his even lower than that ..good luck mika ?
 
Had the rear discs and pads replaced prior to getting it MOT’d today. I’d love to have done this myself since there were some good Black Friday deals on parts and tools however time ran away from me.

My only other MOT checklist concern was headlight adjustment which I’d done myself a few days previously, manually (the rear of my garage has got lots of measured pencil marks on the floor and walls).

It flew through the MOT with no issues whatsoever. ?

It’s then had a full service and whilst I thought it was smooth and quiet before, my FSI is now even smoother and quieter! It’s definitely huge fun utilising the whole rev range, I’m glad I bought an FSI (despite what I’ve read) as the car has a completely different character to my previous diesel and it’s thoroughly enjoyable.
 
Today I was supposed to drive ruby on my dad’s private land but unfortunately I’ve been up since 5am and been sick every where :mad::mad::mad:??

Just glad I wasn’t sick in Ruby !!!!

Stay warm folks as it’s not just me getting this horrible bug !!!

Feeling slightly better now so hopefully I can drive her at the end of the week sometime instead of staying in bed all day or watching boring TV !!!
 
Ordered a pair of top mounts with bearings.. £56 all in for SKF. Didn't think too bad but as the bearings alone would be around £25 I thought just change the lot. I will have a go at them at the weekend as my kit is at home, wife's birthday as well so better not take more than the morning else I'm in the dog house ?

Out of curiosity, is that SKF VKDA 35115? Good to know in case I need to do this later. (hope not).
