Today I.....

Looked at it longingly after I said to my girlfriend I wont drive it all week until I use up the nearly full tank in the Golf I'd borrowed.

She doesn't think I can hold out on a car I only just bought, but I'd rather endure another week in a Golf that goes into limp mode before the steep hill on the way home than give her the chance to say "I told you so"...

This is not my new complete suspension kit ..picture is off this forum I have all this and more springs etc (bilstein) my question is what are the two black rubber items ? Marked in RED as these I don’t have ?? It also looks like they have doubled up on rear spring top rubber (in black ) ..

front anti role bar bushes from the look of it
If so unless the plastic sleeves are intact on you ARB you want the polo bushes not the A2 bushes
Paul

The early anti-roll bars don't have integrated metal collars just to the outside of where the bushes hold the ARB. As such, the early ARB is able to move laterally (in a left-right direction). The later ARBs have metal collars that stop this lateral movement.

Which bushes you buy depends on whether you've got the early or the later ARB. The 18mm bushes are fine for the later ARB, but the 16mm bushes from the Polo should be used on the early ARB. The 16mm Polo bushes grip the ARB significantly tighter, stopping the lateral movement that will otherwise occur.

Cheers,

Tom

The black tubes at the back are the bump stop covers I believe rather than a doubling up. The keep the oddly flesh tone bump stops ‘protected’.

Removed the supplied cassette aux adapter from my A2 so I can put it in the Golf I'm running until empty and found two packs of Sula fruits left by a previous owner. How careless.

Today I woke to the sound of silence, great no rain or high winds, so up and out to get an oil change done, that’s 10k since August although most miles were in 6 weeks or so. Within an hour I have taken the old oil to the tip, showered and changed and now looking out at the pouring rain. Very pleased with my first day of the Christmas holidays. Now back to my pre MOT shopping list.

Bought a Christmas tree. The salesman looked att me the whole time when I loaded it in to the A2 :)
It lightly tuched both the windscreen and the tailgate att the same time :D
That's a big one then :D
Ours was only about 165cm this year (5'6" in old money) and went diagonally in the back of my A2 without the front passenger even having to put her seat forward.

Fitted a replacement sun visor clip from my donor 98 passat (slightly different shade and p/n but exactly the same overwise)
Fitted new headlight bulbs and sidelights (H7's from TPS bought years ago for around £1.10) fortunatly straight forward 10 min job, they seem a lot brighter but one had blown so suppose thats an obvious observation lol!

Today I fitted a replacement hard touch Climate Control. What a Bu**er of a job with much pulling prodding and a bit of swearing I got there..... The only downside is I broke the ash tray and snapped the wiring for the diode (repaired) so anyone got a good black one for sale let me know and thanks.
John
