hmm yes I should change the O/S as that's crusty where the N/S is just surface. Can I swop them both to cast or is that not an option.
John
Yes, assuming you plan to keep it, cast is the best option. There's extensive discussion regarding the options though Lemforder are OEM supplier I believe (TRW are Lemforder with some info ground off though the Lemforder owl logo is still present, on mine at least).

Thanks for the information and I will have a search re Cast and what's involved in fitting them.

I have a November '02 (registered) car which has cast arms. Don't know if they were original, although I have had to replace one side when the balljoint went.

Today I achieve a personal best for my FSI in terms of mpg. Not quite all today but I filled up today.

400 miles completed just as reserve indicator flashes. Colour DIS (thanks @timmus, first fill up since fitted) displays 50.2mpg average, calculating brim to brim reveals 49.7mpg. 36.55 litres filled which leaves circa 5.5 litres reserve (42l tank). Colour DIS didn’t indicate any fuel reduction initially so suspect there are 2 additional litres in there somewhere. Considering I’ve had injector cleaner in it for this tank full together with me giving it an ‘Italian tune up’ on multiple occasions, I’m all the more impressed.

The above is not the norm as 65% was motorway driving, normally it would be circa 25% but a 40.64mpg running average for the 1300 miles since purchase is perfectly acceptable to me. 😃

Good going, mine's high 40's on mixed driving, Shell V-Power. What grade/octane/brand fuel are you using?
Mac.

Now I’ve got DIS I can see what it’s doing and can keep an eye on it and a whole load of other measures too (coolant temp being one of them). It’s worth the outlay. I also get high 40’s on mixed driving however there was one journey it achieved 61 mpg one 43 mile journey, I was trying to see what it could do and this is about what Audi quoted at the outset.

The first tank was V-Power (the only one near where I purchased it) however the next three have been Tesco Momentum 99. 13p per litre difference is quite a big difference and in my opinion can’t feel any power difference or see any MPG variation. I’ll therefore stick to it.

Has anyone tried the Sainsbury’s super-unleaded? It’s 97 RON but is closer to me than the Tesco.

Impressive figure @Jeetesh, my last tank calculation gave 51mpg on my mapped 90 TDI (I could do better though I'm still enjoying the torque too much to worry).
My first A2 was a TDI 75 and averaged 69mpg across the whole 90k miles. Okay my FSI is some way off but I’m keen on being able to achieve what the manufacturer quoted which I can say both have achieved (together with other cars).

Torque is addictive so fully understand why you’d use it and to still achieve 51mpg is pretty spectacular. My merc has shed loads of torque and I can achieve low 70’s if i try however I can also make it do 15mpg using all its potential whilst carting the best part of 2 tonnes around.

Since I don’t need to use all the power I may as well run it economically unless I want to exploit the A2’s rev range in which case it’s like a hot hatch and love it. My two cars therefore complement each other and don’t feel short changed when driving my A2, that itself is a big complement to the A2.

Hi Jeetesh, from those figures your getting they're very respectable mpgs. We were averaging 40.4 around town and over 50 on a run in ours, and as you say it's most definitely a bit of a hot hatch and absolutely great fun to drive.

How about starting a thread on your car so all the information is one one place and easy for us Fsi - ers to go back to for easy access with the vital information your imparting, it's always nice to see another member so enthusiastic about the car we love. I have a thread running which i will update soon enough. We use 3 full tanks of Tesco 99 momentum to 1 Shell V Power as i've heard that the momentum may not have the same level of cleaners that Shell has.

Do you mean a project thread? I’m assuming then it’s just a thread in the projects folder, then adding the links to the things I’ve posted which are in one place on my feed but will be all over the place for everyone else? Makes sense, hopefully I can add a contribution that has some value to others.

I’ve read that additives added to get Tesco up to 99 include cleaners. Is it possible to get the ingredients to the fuel what differentiates them or is this ‘top secret’ (like Coca Cola’s ingredients to allow the marketing people/brands to charge more?

Not a project thread but a 'Members cars thread'. Just post it all there and very easy for us Fsi - ers to find that way and all in one place. You could also post in the "Today I" if you wanted to but use the members thread for more in depth recording. About the fuels, i've read on here, that Tesco momentum doesn't have the cleaners that V - Power does hence i'm staying safe by mixing it up. So we have conflicting information so who to believe??

Noted. Fuel additives - I know someone who worked for Shell in a senior position previously so I’ll ask a few questions.
