There are two types of additives, for petrol, at least.
Octane additives (improvers), used if the base fuel is lower than that required, ie: 95 octane base to 97/98/99 octane. The improver may be alcohol (alcohol is not good for rubber components in old engines, and is hydroscopic).
Not all refiners produce base fuel above 95 octane, but those that do, don't need improvers.
Detergent additives aim to reduce carbon build up etc.
The two are different and independent of one another.
Octane is part of the BS Spec, detergents, as far as I know, aren't.

Who, then are the best super unleaded retailers outside of Shell who are typically 10p+ per litre more than the supermarkets?

Today i went back to surrey to start a new upgrade on my little 1.4.

I had a donor engine from a 1.6 polo gti engine. So I’ve been reading that i can squeeze a bit more power from my engine by replacing the inlet manifold with the polo one. Changing the throttle body also for one from a 1.6 Megané (also have the one from polo too) and a 4>1 exhaust manifold.

Ive got all the pipes and wiring just in case. So hopefully this could be a worthwhile upgrade.

Im also using a k&n replacement air filter. Ive got no concrete advice for this upgrade so its going to be a bit of a test. Hopefully it gives it more bhp.

Ive also got a spare set of wheels to put on the car when i get my skoda vrs wheels refurbished and painted. Then in the spring get it to a detailer and get it compounded and valeted.

As soon as i get an invoice paid ill be speaking to a few mechanics to help me and do a bit of welding for the exhaust sensor.

I don't know. I believe Shell (in mainland UK only, not NI) refine 99 octane base fuel. Not sure who else does. My knowledge could be out of date though.

Cleaned the platinum door cards (the fabric part).

Used autoglym interior shampoo, spray on, agitate with with a wet sponge to a foam, dry with a towel.

They’re come up really clean and really happy with the result. Definitely worth doing.

I realised my car doesn't appear to boing anymore when going from lock to lock at maneuvering speeds, which is concerning me as I don't know if that is a good or bad sign?

Also noticed my left front tyre was really low. Was only 11 PSI! Inflated it to 32, will observe to see if it stays there.

From my own experience with Sally’s car the boinging comes and goes..you could get the spring looked at and make sure that is still in one piece .. from what I’ve read myself if you leave the top mount that is causing the boinging sooner or later you will break the spring anyway .. personally I’m not too worried as I have two new suspension units put together ready to go in ..

OK, it's a slippery slope I'm approaching...

Just ordered a sample of the blue carbon vinyl with a view to trimming the transmission surround in the manner of the A5. Will probably go with black carbon, but if the blue isn't too garish it will most likely get the nod.

If I remember , A2Steve trimmed the door cards in something like this, (correct me if im wrong Steve) and it blistered when the car got hot on a very hot sunny day.

This is very unfortunate and hope can all be resolved in the spirit of forum etiquette.

IMHO even if the sale was a genuine oversight after he bought as genuine a2 items in the spirit of sale of goods it should be responsibility of vendor to resolve. I assume you have checked images of the initial advert by previous vendor? I would hope to see the admin team step in here as both parties will need impartial support.

I hope the young man in mention reflects if he has been disrespectful and comes good as it is a shame from someone who is a passionate enthusiast on here.

good luck in sorting this.

I suspect the mats in mention are possibly for LHD Audi a2s.

sincerely hope for both parties who are regular enthusiasts on here a resolution is forthcoming swiftly.

Agreed. The team are aware and will help so far as we are able to mediate. Can I please request that this thread does not descend into something unwieldily and posts in ‘Today I...’ revert back to the topic in hand.

Yes I hope so to ..especially as I have payed a premium of £165 for a product that’s not correct only fair for a full refund to be issued and said items collected ASAP ..
