Today I.....

Had someone flag me down at the lights to tell me his misses likes the car or something? I couldn't really hear the guy.

Does this happen often? Only been driving it a week and I don't know if they're taking the piss or actually like the weird little car.

?

It doesn't happen often at all at least around outer London. We do get what i would describe as admiring looks but thats it. Just congratulate yourself for being a wise buyer. ;)

i did get a woman in a car park a couple of years ago ask me what new model it was ? when I explained it was 14 years old she was aghast ...put a private plate on you car and to be honest some out there would think it could be Audi’s answer to the bmw i3 ..?

Today I did an 80 mile round trip averaging an indicated 59mpg (75% motorway, 25% urban and 2 on board and not trying hard). Tail wind on the way there resulting in 64mpg average on the outbound and didn’t reset on the way back so assuming 54mpg on the way back in the headwind. The wind socks on the A1 were horizontal so a fair wind!

I can’t tell if the gearbox oil change is making any difference however the adjusted door which now seals properly makes for a much quieter drive.

My FSI was probably running in stratified mode for a fair amount of it so clearly when they work well, you get decent MPG figures. ?

When I first brought my yellow Colour Storm home, my neighbour asked me if it was brand new - he was amazed that it was 15 years old. That's as much a credit to the condition in which the previous owners kept it as it is to Audi's design.

Can well believe it or was it your aftershave that was the attractant. :p ?

We've had a similar experience from a long standing client who said "you bought a new car?" i told him as you did and he too was impressed, even told me to put a private plate on as nobody would know. ?

This is the reason why i love the Fsi, as you say when running right can do amazing mpgs so no need for a diesel.

Those figures are amazing! ?

I’ve also put a non age identifying private plate on too so looks much newer that 16 years. Also the colour dis and the Xcarlink gives it the functionality of a modern car so as well as looking about 5 years old now feels about 5 years old.

I didn’t think the fsi would get to those figures with the car falling off a cliff ?...
Audi quoted 60 mpg extra urban and at 27k miles its nicely run in. One day I’ll try it with just me on a longish journey, take the kids seats out (30kg between the two) and the rear seats out (probably another 40kg), add a bit of tyre pressure and see if I can get to 70mpg extra urban!

16955. Brake light switch implausible. All lights lit every other push or so so bulbs okay but switch seemed duff.

I dismantled the dash, pulled out the switch, doused it in contact cleaner and put it back in. Lights all seemed to work but EML still on. Reset a couple of times but no luck.

I was in the car park of the MOt station in a gale and it closed in 30 mins so my time was limited. I think I did what I could... I obviously carry too much stuff in my boot though.

An EML shouldn’t fail the MOT i don’t think.

Today I found (and bought) 4 Bose speaker grills in twist beige. I thought this day would never come ?
For £90 they even come with excellent door cards!
