Today I.....

finally got some information about IT21.. this looks good, need to finalize the packages and dates.
Though I do think there will be one initial one for learners and newbies and then the big one later. Probably end Jan and then mid-Feb, to make sure we actually have some ice.

Hopefully the fuel cap has the correct fitting on the end of the lanyard for the A2.
Yes it’s exactly the same and attaches correctly to the fuel door with no slackness, it even clicks exactly the same as my old one.

the main reason I went for this one is that the lanyard is the same too where you could pop out the two studs and swap over if need be.

Very happy with it and I think I’ve run out of things to replace/do now.

I have a universal bush / bearing press set. I selected the appropriate size cups, lubricated the bush location with Dynax UC (mainly to prevent further rust) and they both wound in comfortably after a few taps with a hammer to get them square. Don't forget to stop winding leaving a gap of 0.2mm.View attachment 67155View attachment 67156

Edit, this is the tool: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/27pc-Uni...374792?hash=item46ab57e488:g:h0YAAOSwsideeW6j

So just a small follow up on this one. Note that if changing the bushes on the rear axle that you need to first off tighten them on the ground then after installing tighten up again with each end of the axle under load. If you dont do this then the bush bolts can and will work their way loose.

That is good to know especially for the diesel owners as the new cap is not available with the word "diesel" printed on them. They can just swap over the lanyard to their existing cap. Here is a picture showing the little plastic rivets ( 2 off ) that you push out to release the lanyard.

Thank’s for that advice, I’m at the tightening up stage right now. My load, wife and oldest son, are working so I’m having to wait. The car is on its wheels, the manual says one person but I have a completely empty fuel tank And I tow so I’m going for two. Fairly certain then it is just a matter of torquing to 75 Nm?

Yes sounds right but the axle should be pushed up on each side when torquing up as the bushes can turn and loosen otherwise - for sure would be good to get someone to give you a hand if you dont have a gearbox jack and car is on a 4 post!

I do have a gearbox jack, used it to lower the axle. Just finished; bush bolt 75Nm damper bottom 55Nm both with load on the axle. Off for a shower now but will check to make sure I’ve not missed anything. Thanks for the nudge ?

Dropped off my bargain buys for refurb today. They should be back Saturday afternoon. Quick turnaround but won't be able to get the tire's on them till Monday.

I'm really struggling to lift the average for my current tankful over 59MPG. Starting from 58.2MPG and about 200 miles in, I nursed it 50 miles of mainly A/B-road this morning with just me on board, going not a shade over 55mph. I'd just hit 59MPG when I came to the back of a 45 minute queue . Lost the lot crawling through a diversion route ?. Managed to end on 58.8MPG with a clearer return journey. But I'm sure I should be looking at well into the 60's after that sort of running, it certainly did that round Scotland last year.

After being reasonably careful with it on my commute for the rest of the tankful, I saw 59.4MPG on the DIS at one late stage, but it was back to 59.2 when I filled up at 579 (beep plus 10) miles and just managed to squeeze in 41.5 litres. I couldn't have got even another 100ml in. That gives an actual calculated average of 63.4MPG for the tankful, with which I'm pleased enough.

That also says, if the beep is supposed to go off at 50 miles range remaining, that on a conservative estimate of a litre per 12.5 miles (I was doing nearly 14 miles to the litre), there's roughly 45 litres capacity in the nominally 42-litre tank. I suspect from other posts I've read that there may be more. I did hear of the beep being supposed to go off at 7 litres remaining, that would make a roughly 48 litre tank.

What size spacers have you put on? I found I couldnt reliably put anything more than 5mm and only then at the back due to the protruding hub length
