Today I.....

Today I finally managed to remove the N/S Headlight... that D connector has been my tormentor but no more. Then I checked the power steering fluid level and removed and cleaned the Earth Lead near the headlight. It was clean but I brassed wire brushed the lead bolt and chassis and reassembled with a little grease to protect it.

Believe it or not removing the headlight connector is one of the jobs I find most difficult on the A2. On the breakers I just cut the loom :)

Oh I believe you Steve, I have had several attempts over the months and failed but today was a lucky day and in future lucky again if needed ?

Maybe this video will help. The "secret" is to compress the plug and then push on the release tab.

In the past I've tried with a screwdriver (not easy) but the video says "no way!"

... remembered that OSS is a wonderful thing.

But 22C? It's October next week!

I'll be waxing three cars for the winter this weekend, methinks...

on all of them. The beading on the suzuki is awesome, you just can't see it on the white one.. A2 hasn't been waxed in a long time but it needs it. Might have to clay that first.

Bought a tin of collinite years ago and it's still half full. Only wax twice a year.

I’ve got two tins , one white & red & a massive blue one twice the size, I’ve used for years, even doing the huge Adria caravan twice & it still looks like a new tin!
Amazing product.

Today I refitted the rear bumper. A year ago it was resprayed after I scrapped it but last March I noticed the nearside corner paint was darker. Having waited to the paint shop reopened after Corvid restrictions I came to an arrangement whereby they repainted FOC if I removed the bumper. The guy who did it normally deals with restoration of modern classics and appears to always be busy, so bit of a wait to get it done. Not really the paint shops fault as all paint is mixed by the paint supplier. This time he sprayed the whole bumper.

Not a difficult task but took almost 3 hours start to finish and the same to refit. Took a bit longer refitting when I discovered I did not fit the 2 screws holding the bumper from inside the wheel arch - duh! Yes, you can put them in without removing the wheel arch liner but it is probably quicker to remove it so you can then see what you are doing, plus the liner and inner wheel arch can get a good hose down.

There are some "how to" posts but no pics. I took some pics and could make an illustrated How To if that is thought worth while.

I have both parts anyway, (better to be prepared!) are they easy to change?

Yes, once you've found the coolant temp sensor once you will be able to change another in a couple of minutes.

The thermostat is also easy enough to change but the bottom bolt can be a little awkward to get to. A flexi headed ratchet spanner can make life easier but sometimes the heads on them are to bit to fit in that area.
