Today I.....

Brake fluid should be changed every two years according to all VAG group service schedules! Personally I prefer to measure the water content at each service and change only when needed. It’s just been done on my Touran as well as the A2, I’m guessing it won’t need doing again for at least 3 or 4 years.

Today I had time to fit the Sport Steering Wheel I brought from A2Steve ? All went well, I disconnected the battery Earth went and had a cup of tea. Removed the Airbag (my first time) changed the Steering wheel and Airbag. Connected the battery reset Time and Date. Started it up no need for adaptations of the throttle body or EGR valve just or windows just the central locking to re-sync the keys to lock and unlock via the remote. All this learnt from this great forum and it's supportive members, So thanks a lot all.

Fitted my new battery and the old one was cranking hard some mornings. Excellent service from Tayna with next day delivery. Varta F19 85Ah 800A CCA.
Slightly taller than the standard battery.
I should check how long the old one has been there for. Exide Excell 74Ah 680A date code isn't crystal clear but suggests 2015.
Easy job, reset the window auto close function, no need to enter radio code.
Looking forward to an easy start up tomorrow morning now it's freezing.

I purchased my first Audi A2 at the start of October, and after the three hour drive home an oil leak became apparent so into the garage in went for a '6 hour job'. Over a month later (waiting for parts) i got it back with the oil leak fixed.

So today i made a start at putting all the parts i had purchased in that month, mainly from this forum, onto the car.

High quality refurbished wiper arm and door check strap from @depronman

Amazing condition rear mud guards with all original fittings from @Clackers

Original sports wheels from @Vanders.

Lots more parts to go on.

Thanks for the help and the great parts, really liking the look of my A2 now.

Mark

I love those 9 spokes ?
Mac.

If they are as delicate as their reputation (on here) suggests, how come there are so many on the road (as opposed to in the smelter)?
Maybe, like FSIs, something oft repeated becomes accepted fact ...

Mac.

Me too, unfortunately they are made of chocolate!
Looking good. Glad your enjoying ownership. I’ve just passed a year of A2 ownership and loving it.

Having switched over to Pepperpots with winters on my grey one on at the start of November, I really can’t see me putting my 17’ sports back on in the spring tbh. I’m getting 8% better mpg and the car rides soooo much better. I didn’t dislike the ride before but i love it now.

Had my stainless down pipe fitted yesterday at Longlife in Caerphilly. ?
Has totally improved my 75 tdi, saving the pennies for the rest of it to be changed now.
Down pipe was £200.
Cheaper than what @A2Steve got his done for too ? they did remember his being there as they commented on how nice his was.
I didn’t get any comments on mine though lol

I can assure you I have seen a LOT of A2 over the last seven years and never found a full set of the 17” 9 spokes where all four are true on the inside rim
Most are like 50 pence pieces, hence the soft as chocolate statement
Don’t get me wrong I think they are the nicest of the stock A2 wheels by some margin and I have owned two sets of them in the past but on the public roads in the state they are in with pot holes galore they simply don’t stand a chance
Also they are heavy in the extreme compared to the pepper pots or the A2 15” 7 triangle rims

Fully agree and every ‘Sport’ I’ve seen has had at least one 50p shaped alloy on the inner edge.

For me the SE 16” 6 spoke is the signature alloy for the A2.

A retaining lug snapped off a wheel nut cover - but bit of superglue and baking soda fixed that. Makes a strong and flexible bond, really good for repairing plastics and fitting lugs. Have even used it to patch up cracked undertray.

Fix crack with superglue then apply layer of superglue outside of crack area and sprinkle baking soda over. Repeat as necessary. It's the duct tape of plastic repairs.

Wow never knew baking soda could be added to super glue! Everydays a school day!!

Tonight I realised why I was having so much trouble seeing my way home in the dark & rain ... the adjuster on my headlamp switch was set to 2. Must have been tested at my recent MOT and I'd not noticed they'd left it like that. Set it back to 0 and I'm picking up medium-distant reflectors properly again ?

Still glad I now have a pair of +200% bulbs on order though, the output has always been somewhat yellowy and doesn't hold its own very well against oncoming modern armour-piercing LEDs.
