Today, I and a mate changed the intercooler on his A2,

Was a pain due to the screws and bolts that have not been undone for many years, but we got there in the end.
And thanks to Audifan for advice.
Ta bud.

Replaced the NOx sensor with a genuine NTK (NZA04-V1). All that was need was to cut and lengthen the cables by 4" or so and transfer the grommet over to the new sensor cable.

It was an ebay special at 65 GBP brand new and unopened!

No more CEL but there are still coolant leaks and a clutch to sort out!

Last night my brother in law and his girlfriend attended the pantomime in Exeter along with my wife and I plus our kids. Knowing they had travelled there in Merlin, I asked how their journey was. “Fast” was all he said - his girlfriend nodding in agreement, both their faces having a deadly serious expression ?

They’ve begged me to pop round and show them how the cruise control works today, so they don’t inadvertently start collecting points...

Not quite "Today I..." but a couple of weeks back I collected my Fsi from WOM Automotive after an extended visit - and it's been a revelation!
I chose the car after much research within the club web pages and bought it from London with a known misfire - thinking it was an "innocent" seller, wife's car and all that! The reality I think was a calculating and willful bodger, judging by the catalogue of problems diagnosed and fixed by WOM - mostly broken intake pipes, but also jammed swirl flaps, bodged "death pipe" and garden hose for the dipstick tube! One wheel bolt had been cross-threaded too requiring a replacement hub...
But after the expert brothers brought their knowledge and experience to bear, the little silver car is now lovely and as I had hoped from all the road tests and reviews. Smooth, lively and powerful; and with astonishing road-holding. Definitely one to drive with the wrists and not the whole arm!
It's a 1.6 sport with fully working roof, 4 electric windows and a nice sport interior in Soul Black with a grey fleck to the seats - and I love it!
In the new year it'll go north to Timmus for an RNS-e and Bose installation with DIS and mult-function steering wheel to tie it all together and I think my "dream" spec will be acheived :D

So it's hats off to the gents at WOM, they radiate a calm competence that fosters confidence, and their depth of experience in the A2 and finnicky attention to detail is so reassuring when leaving one's pride and joy in their care. Much respect gentlemen, and many thanks for keeping these little gems polished. ?

Big WOM fan here I'm now reluctant to take the car anywhere else when I need to get something major done. Can say enough about the honesty and reliability of the work that Rob and Marcus do. Big shout out from me.

Today I discovered an A2 feature that for a minute had me thinking I had an electrical fault. I pulled over to park at the side of the road, indicating left. I forgot to cancel the indicator, and turned off the lights and ignition. When I opened the door the lights on warning sounded and I discovered that the nearside headlight and rear light were still lit, even when I locked the car. Thought this was really odd, and then found that if you parked the car with the right indicator set, it would light the offside headlight and rear light. Looked in the manual and sure enough these are parking lights, as designed. You learn something every day!

I remember this happening to my mother 30 years ago, when she used my father's 2002 for the first time - still not a common creature!

Best description of an FSI in fine fettle I've heard
Mac.

This has been a feature of most continental cars since the 1960s - even mk3 Cortinas do it, it’s just not a well-known or utilised feature in this country.

Indeed, when I bought mine I was actually looking for a TDI however once I tried it I’d swiftly forgotten about wanting the TDI.

If you’ve only read and not experienced a good one I can understand why some have made up their minds based on others’ bad experiences. Once you’ve tried a brilliant one, you understand fully where Audi were aiming with the A2.

It is unbelievable the difference in character an FSI has vs a TDI, trying an FSI should be on every A2 owners bucket list.

Well this has piqued my interest!

having owned 13 different continental cars in the past 30-odd years and driven many more, I’m really surprised I’ve never discovered this!
