... opened the drivers door and the interior light came on, the door open symbol appeared in the Drivers display and the fuel switch worked! Obviously a week of freezing weather worked some sort of electrical magic!?!? Anyone else encountered a similar thing?
Thoroughly expecting it will all stop working again as an issue with the micro switch?
frustratingly even though switch and solenoid work and operate - the little metal pin in the fuel assembly (see photo) has been prised open so many times that the fuel flap doesn’t release. Can this be replaced or would I need a whole new fuel filler housing?

Today I fit some new Michelin Alpin 185/55 16 winter tyres to a spare set of SE alloys I had and fit them on the car ready for some more wintery weather that i bet probably won't come now! 
I am quite interested to see how they compare to the standard sized 185/50 16 summer Conti's that I have taken off (also on standard SE alloys) having never used this size before and am hoping for a little extra comfort but mostly looking forward to my speedo reading accurately for the first time ever!

...learned that one of my A2s has factory Bluetooth.
I didn't even realize Bluetooth was even a thing back in '05, when my family had neither a mobile phone nor an Internet connection.
Even better: It actually paired flawlessly with my Android 10 phone, which upon research is apparently not a given.
(Rather curious though, that the car can apparently only ever use one system when multiple use the same output - making a call blocks the Radio ["PHONE"] on a Concert2 while BNS Satnav completely blocks DIS
)

According to a 2005 price list found through Google, Bluetooth was definitely an option for the A2 as part of the hands-free phone system, at least for german cars going by the list's language. ("Handyvorbereitung (Bluetooth) mit Freisprecheinrichtung")
Some unverifiable posts on the german A2 forums suggest that it may have been an option from 2004.
Of course, featurewise, it is nothing like today's Bluetooth. It theoretically only works for calls and without an old phone-holder or multi-function steering wheel, you don't even get a button to take a call.
Still, I believe it's much better than having the phone in a cubby somewhere hoping its tiny speaker will be enough. This way, one could use one of those vent-phoneholders and still get to talk through the car-mounted microphone and speakers.
I did manage to install an app on my phone that emulates a call so the speakers will also output something like Google Maps Navigation (quality is way too low for music) though that's where the aforementioned negative of being unable to use Phone and Radio at the same time comes in.

Which dimension of Hakka8 do yo use on the pepperpots?
I use 175/65 r15, they seem fine but have not run them for long in this size / on this car so cant realy rate the combination yet, but I do have a thing for Hakkas

@Zacharias hope the light weight pepperpots will give you much increased road contact/grip, when you do long curves and there is built up of 40-50mm hard snow/ice and lorries have created dangerous snow-chain pattern..... 
or do you live so urban that you never get that kind of conditions...?

Today I fitted the Bose care package from @noahsark6 to repair the blown speakers as a result of the Bose amp which got wet due to failed sunroof seals. Been running standard speakers in the car and they really don't seem to play nice with the bose amp as they are much lower impedance than the bose speakers so you need to run the stereo at lower volumes.
Also fitted some ebay heated door mirrors, pretty happy with the mirrors for £9 each, no problems with the fitment. It is confusing to my brain that you have to put the rear demister on for them to be powered though - very used to this being on the mirror adjustment joystick like all other VAG cars.

Finally got the A2 out the workshop after a rear coolant pipe replacement (TWICE!, grrrr) also replaced some number plate fixings that had lost the end caps as I had some on the shelf in the shed. Having driven it 35 ft I now know I need to adjust the gear linkage so come here for some reading.

Today I.... had clear off some "white powder". After an unusually wet period (nov+dec) over here, it feels good to see the sun and put on cross country skies and enjoy that days are getting longer for every day passing by....
The DEFA electrical engine heater and coupe heater let me start a hot engine and ice free windows....
