So I might get a bit more heat in the heater or it will heat up faster ?
It doesn’t stop the heater running, but is far better to have it connected allowing the fumes to discharge outside the engine bay safely,
I find my Webasto runs far smoother when using 2 stroke with every tank.

It is fake right? No air passes through it - Hence it’s actually marginally worse for the car’s drag factor as the fins “catch” the air?
I assume no air is passing through as you have the oil and screen wash behind it.

I also prefer the smooth version as it is a bit more interesting and quirky, which is one of the reasons I bought an A2 in the first place.

Nothing A2 related but I finally replaced a load of dodgy bodges that keep my ride on mower running, with a set of more permanent high-quality bodges. Oh and my Discovey 3 passed its MOT yesterday with no immediate issues, just some bushes and ball joints as its rattling away on the roguh track to my house. Still probably cost as much or more as my A2 cost.

Today I finally satisfied myself that there isn’t anything wrong with Audrey’s fuel consumption.

I borrowed the car to run up to Exeter and back, a distance of 28 miles each way according to Google and a very hilly route. I kept the average speed to 65mph indicated but allowed it to decline and rise by 5mph each way on the hills, including some out-of-gear coasting on the steepest downhill gradients. Acceleration when applied was brisk but not excessive. The tyre pressures are at the full load settings as per the filler flap. The climate control unit was switched off (ie not even blowing - switched off using the button)

This seems to be normal for a TDi90 / ATL in winter, although I must admit I was hoping for a little more considering the six speed gearbox that’s fitted, giving a true 70mph at 2000 rpm in top - I suppose the benefit of this mod is therefore solely in decreased engine noise and wear rather than any fuel consumption improvement. I found at 65mph the DIS read 55mpg or so on the flat. Maybe it will nudge up a few mpg in warmer weather.

All look correct for an atl engine
The amf/bhc engine is generally 8 to 10mpg better particularly when remapped

Lots of Brufen, so decided to tackle the stat.
Not a good idea. Wish I had paid someone to do it.
Bottom bolt of cover sheared. Had to remove the whole housing. Those spring clips are a mega PITA even with the correct tool. Dropped a socket into the undertray Had to remove to tray to retrieve. Drilled out old bolt. That went well(ish) but have decided to use a bolt rather than the original self tappper. Will have to grind the nut as there is not a lot of room.
Drip tray sprung a leak, antifreeze all over the floor.
Audi had supplied wrong stat. Correct one here on Saturday,
Why did I start????
Retired hurt.

It’s funny, this car is by far the most sensitive to driving style I’ve ever owned, I can easily see how someone who isn’t watching the instant MPG readout and driving “normally” (ie with brain switched off and doing 75ish mph on national limit roads) could easily get the MPG down into the mid 40s. It really does reward you if you’re prepared to put the effort into economising your driving style.

Further tips on extracting even better figures welcome!

Let battle commence! I already have supporting information to back the claim

Belive it or not , no action by the plod , dispiriting to say the least , Derbyshire police force nuff said , driver left the incident , only to to return following the powers of Facebook , cctv and living in a small village .... was rather surprised to find the a2 had been pushed back 4mts and into a further car .... which looks also looks be a write off ....
Glad you are OK. Your car can be repaired more easily than you.

When my Insurance Company started messing about on a Non-Fault claim, I used this resource.
I hope you find it useful... 👍
