Today I.....

Today I, or rather my TDi, passed it's MoT with no advisories, not bad for 191,357 miles ....

It’s an A2. That is normal and expected

All joking aside the build quality on these wee Audis does shine through
May there be many more first time passes

Paul

Today I fitted a new battery, the original didn't quite make 17 years so can't complain.
Yesterday my daughter gave birth to twins so tomorrow I start preparing her Toyota iq for sale as twins and an iq is not the easiest combination
Congratulations grandad ?

Now that’s a car (in auto form) I’ve been looking at for the wife to replace her huge hulk of a car that’s just taken to the shops a couple of times a week!

What does she think of the iQ honestly?

She loves it, it’s perfect for her. She lives in London it turns on a sixpence and parks in the smallest of spaces But you must accept it for what it is it won’t win any drag race. She’s had one since 2009, her original one was written off when some idiot lost control in a 20mph zone writing off three parked cars as well as his own. I had to go by national express overnight to get an identical car from Newcastle upon Tyne.

I’ve read some quite good things about the time and to be honest, all it would ever be doing is local trips and used as a 2 seater at that, and so, on paper at least would seem ideal, however you never know...

Your daughter must have liked it to have kept the same model and send you off for another

detailed and wheels back on

It looks like these are the std 15" wheels that I believe are are lacquered bare alloy from the factory, which is difficult to re-create. Is this what you've had done, or have they been painted or powder coated?

Toyota iQ..... Before I stepped into the wonderfull world of A2, I was looking at an iQ.
Did you know there's a diesel version too? 90hp combined with a 6speed, a fair amount can be found in France and Belgium.
Hmmmm, would be nice to have one on the side...... I'm of to Autoscout, browse a bit ?.

@Sopwith Pup Congratulations!

Today my Crystal TDI received a replacement brake switch, courtesy of the breaker that I had a couple of years ago. A nice easy job if you know how to remove and replace the headlight switch, A-pillar trim and under-steering panel, and needing nothing more than a Torx 25 bit and driver. Pleased to say that all the info I needed I found on here (albeit through Google) :)

What surprised me was the variety of fault indications that the old one threw up intermittently, while still not quite failed - everything from just the flashing coil light, via ABS/TC lights, to a big flashing red brake symbol in the DIS with not one but three 'beeps of death' - by the time I got that one though I'd already worked out what the problem was, and it too cleared with the next start of the engine.

The least favourite job I’ve ever done on an A2 that. I found contorting myself into the required position to get it in place most uncomfortable!!!

I can recommend kneeling on a cushion outside the car. The only slightly contortive (?sp) bit for me was getting to see what I was doing with the screw and the little split-pin on that part of the air ducting that's in the way. I've read that it's possible, but I wouldn't want to have done it without removing that.

I followed the advice of pushing seat back and laying on my back looking up at it. Nearly slipped a disc!

Today I swore at myself as I was replacing a leaky brake drum cylinder and twisted the brake line.

Also this reminds me I really need to start using the pictures that I have been taking during the overhaul of the suspension and start up a project thread.
