Today I.....

Last week I changed the brakes on my ATL. This was long overdue. I knew my handbrake mechanisms were faulty. Already changed the handbrake cables, but that was not the solution. So I bought new brake calipers door the rear axle from a VW golf Mk 4. These have slightly bigger pistons, 41mm vs 34mm to be exact. Painted them red to match the fronts. Those were the 312mm brakes into 288 Lucas calipers in order to use 15 inch rims again. Of course new discs and pads, brembo Max. Happy with the results?

Lovely job. Great seeing work like this being done ?

Today I made my A2 an EV ;)

This is the PV panel I was using in the A2 but it was a faff moving it from the top of the dash every time I used the car. Also, despite being on a sheet of cardboard, it was starting to mark the dash. And in winter it was too shaded. Let's see if this position makes much difference. As with all EV specs, some charging times are required ;)
  • Estimate charge from 10% to 90% is 43 sunny hours!

If there is interest, I could do a "how to" on fitting a none OEM 12v socket in the boot without removing the boot side panel.

Hello all,

After many failed attempts to get my Webasto working I decided today was time to change the faulty G263 sensor.

After 90 minutes it was removed:

Along with some other items:

Time to put it all back together now with a little less Jive and a bit more Soul. Wish me luck.

Kind regards,

Tom

Today I fitted the Polo Gti alloys to the white Tdi, The 225 45 17's are very, very slightly rubbing on the rear splash guards but a couple of hundred miles they'll be fine Pleased with how the center caps turned out but I think I might also need some spacers so they fill the arches better

Afternoon Iain,

Who doesn't absolutely love to see a White A2? The Polo wheels look fantastic and think the centre caps are pure genius. Very well done Sir.

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks Tom I couldn't find Audi centre caps to fit and had the idea of using the ASF badges floating about in my head for a while but never had the need to try it till now ?

What offset are the alloys Iain? Being a polo i would get around the 52 mark? You could probably fit a good 20mm spacer with them if that is the case and that would bring them directly in line with the arch. Had a similar set fitted to my FSI for a while.

Hi Steve, I've ordered a set of those ones you recommended so we'll see what happens when I stick them on but I think I'll need to fit my 205 40's at the same time ?

You're very brave fitting 225/45 17 tyres on an A2, especially with wheels with a high offset and no spacers.

The image below is what you'll soon end up with, especially on the drivers side rear and passenger side front, along with damaged tyres too!

Be careful ?

Thanks but I've ordered spacers and have 205 40's sitting waiting to be fitted so the current set is purely temporary till the New year's past

Today I got round to a full service on The A4
1.9 TDI, it's just passed the 113K mark on a 52 plate.
Gave it the Liquid Moly oil treatment and diesel purge before changing the oil and diesel filters plus of course the new oil.
20,000 miles since the last diesel purge but worth showing you the image of a new inline filter against the one used to do the diesel purge of the injectors.
Looks like it's worth doing on our A2's.
