Today I.....

Which one did you go for and why did you have to cut terminal? Would that not void warranty???
Hi @H-M3
For our FSI Sport, I chose the E44 Silver Dynamic 77 Ah, 780 A.
The terminal caps have no cut out for the cable exits. (It may be that Varta intend the caps to only be used during delivery, see pic below).
Also the cap assumes the highest point is the top of the terminal post, but the A2 clamp has the bolt at an angle (which makes tightening it with a nut spinner very easy), and the highest point is the nut on the clamp.
So, on both the + and - side I made a cutout to suit the A2 cable and clamp. In the A2, the fact that the battery lives under the floor, makes the terminal caps non-essential (IMO), but they are handy if your working around the battery with metal tools, they provide a bit of protection against tools touching battery terminals.
The caps are not a functional part of the battery, so in the unlikely event of failure, I'd be very surprised, (and a little grumpy), if Tanya cited them as an excuse to wriggle out of the warranty. I'm certain they would not.

Did you consider the possibility to reuse the (black) caps from the original battery? I thiiink I did that for my new Varta E44, although my memory on that point are vague. Which by the way is irritating, it was only like four weeks ago.

I also reused the original factory battery terminal covers when I fitted my Varta (although an F19 for a TDI rather than an E44) but from the picture you post you can see the two small round holes that they should push into and hopefully the E44 will also have the same factory hole for the ventilation tube to push into as the original and F19 do too which is part of the reason I went with a Varta again?

Not possible, sadly. The old, (17 years), caps fix to the battery with pegs that fit holes on the battery case. New caps use a tab on the cap and slots on the battery case.
No one will see it but me, but. I know ...

I think these holes for the pegs are quite visible even in your photo, if you still have the old caps it will be worth checking if they fit.

Got round to installing the basically mint concert II unit from @2work. Man it looks the part but now my climate unit defo needs an upgrade ?‍♂️?

Also put in the Komfortblinker and aside from a little scuffle getting the cubby hole out it went in a dream and now I have seriously comfortable indicators ??

Old concert II to shortly appear in market place in case anyone is in need.

Cheers, I hadn't noticed the holes, will check, but I only have one old one. There was only one when I got the car.

Sorry bit of numpty here, can you kindly take a picture so I know what I am doing when I change my battery in few weeks. Thanks

Wife hit a pothole and killed a tyre last week, had to use the compressor and the bottle of gunk to get to the tyre place (I was away on business), i'm sure I had purchased this bottle as the old one was way out of date, for me that would have been eBay or Amazon, but i cant find any record of a purchase, anybody know where to buy these bottles that fit in the A2 boot cutout? "local Audi dealer" isn't much use to us in darkest Cornwall as that's a 2hr round trip, so it needs to be a mail order site. Back to having an odd tyre and I guess I better have a look under the car as she had to use a local tyre shop that was unknown to me (always risky).

Today I took the seats from the TT, to a leather restorer, in the A2, of course.
Anyway, when I got to the workshop, on a small industrial estate, I saw a classic Ferrari, an Aston Martin, and a Ford GT40 being photographed. Drove further in, and there's maybe a dozen similar cars, in various states of restoration. Blimey, I thought, this is amazing. Even more amazing, the leather man, turns out be an A2 owner!
Oh, he says, there all fibreglass replicas, but the leather is real?

No problem. Here's a couple of pics, and having looked more closely, the terminal cover is, actually, an Audi part!

I've just grumbled to Tanya, wish I hadn't now ?

I'm sure someone on here with have the correct terminal cover that you are missing and you can get it back to looking 'factory' which would be nice ?

I do have one, from the old battery, which fits the positive terminal on the new battery. I'm guessing that Audi only fitted a cover to the positive side, as the negative side is chassis, so no risk.
Live and learn.

SO.

So the wheel advert is now totally misleading. Not only are the wheels no longer suitable for the original A8 there is no mention of modification ( and not clear from your post picture ) to take them from 5x112 to 4x100. CRAZY AND DANGEROUS.
Yup ? marked in yellow .. Those of you with an engineering head will see straight away what they’ve done...err no sir ?
