Today I.....

Yes sorry I should snap out of smug mode - it’s just that this journey for me has summed up the culmination of what I’ve been aiming to achieve since I decided to purchase the car 18 months ago and I can’t think of any further upgrade I could do to the car that would now improve it in any way in my eyes - all it now needs is for me to get around to fitting the aero mod spoiler trim and winglets I have for it in the workshop (I really must source an aero mod transmission tunnel cover, on that note - but I haven’t seen one for sale since last winter).

Fair play to you, nice to get car how you want it. I've heard a few things on the aero mods but don't really get where they go on the car are they all hidden underneath?

pretty much, yes.

Mine's now booked in for the wheel removal tomorrow. Winters are staying at the tyre hotel for the season anyway, so I'll let them risk breaking the bolts. And I've sprayed them multiple times today with WD40-equivalent...

WOM fitted my aero mod spoiler correctly at the back of the engine undertray.

there's a reason the rear lights have that ridge on the side and the 1.2 and 1.6s have a bigger spoiler.
I think the design engineers at Audi originally glued a pencil, or pen, onto the side of the rear lights which made it more aerodynamic in the wind tunnel hence how that ridge came about.

Today I was inspired by the superb video by club member 'MTL' on his YouTube channel and have ordered new rubber seals for the Crankcase Oil Separator (036 103 464 G) ... surprisingly they are still available to order from the Audi Dealer. I will update this with part numbers when I get them.

Also ordered 3 x N10212103 (M10x60) bolts to replace the single use ones on the drivers side engine mount - old ones were reused after changing the timing belts and water pump a few days ago and trying to maintain standards!

Tried ordering the 3 x N0903164 (M8x30) bolts that fix the bottom plate of the engine mount to the car ... only available to order in packs of 25 at a cost of £30 and Audi Dealer didn't want to be left with 'dead stock' ... I wonder if Tom@Crewe Audi can supply?

@Tomscar yes unfortunately these come in packs of 25 so would have to have few people interested to make it work.

Thanks
Thanks Tom@Crewe Audi ... that's more or less what Pat said here in Belfast ... maybe a few more will require them at some point, I believe they are single use stretch bolts and need to be replaced when you remove them to replace the timing belts etc.

Bah.

Today, after only this week waxing lyrical about how good the car is and that I’ve got it exactly how I want it, hopped in at the hotel car park in Reading and drove to Slough station - hot day so I turned the aircon on, only to find it’s stopped working again despite being serviced / regassed last year!

Tried cycling the temp from “LO” to “HI” a couple of times but no joy. Will feel the pipes to check the system is fundamentally working and scan via CDIS to see what’s going on if all good.

It looks like N0903168 is an updated version of N0903164. Still with the M8x30 specification.

LLLParts have N0903168 for 0.52 Euros each plus 3.97 Euros for shipping.

Acccording to skoda-parts.com N0903164, N0903168, and N90188001 are all interchangeable.
