Today I.....

I cant quite get a grip of what is the screw-like thing just on the left side of the compressor (in the old design picture), which also appears on the later picture on the right side of the tyre sealant?

There were 3 styles of tool holder fitted to the A2 depending on the year or if Bose was fitted....

This was the early type.

The later type.

If Bose was fitted the boot looks like this and the tools were located under the right front floor compartment....

Can't find a picture of the actual tool foam under the front floor.

I think that's the locking wheel nut key you're referring to to prevent your alloy wheels being stolen.

Just to add that all 3 photos that @audifan has kindly added have the battery bracket for the collapsible spare wheel kit fitted that most cars won't have, just in case someone was looking at the photos and thought they had something missing.

Also the reason there was a change in the design of the toolkit on the later model (obviously not the Bose version) was to aid ease of battery removal/replacement as on the early model the battery bracket bolts weren't easily accessible without removing the toolkit holding polystyrene which many people struggled with to say the least 👍

Tom @2work in your picture of the labelled tools that is not a compressor at all. It is a genuine Audi Hi-Vis vest.
Morning Graham,

I was merely pointing out what should be there as per the text below the picture:
Where the compressor should be looks to possibly an after market FAK.

I wasn’t sure if it was a FAK but knew it certainly wasn’t the compressor. What led me to beleive it might actually be a FAK is due to what appears to be the top of a white square with a black cross in the centre :

I’m sure the OP has the answer now though.

Kind regards,

Tom

Today I picked Ethel up from the paint shop after having her arches plus front and rear lower bumpers resprayed in matt Black L1P9. Very happy with the result and now looking factory fresh again. 👍 😍......

Today I finally fitted a new fuel filter and a Depronman drain bolt. Immediately solved the hesitation and rough running. Actually managed to get the plastic drain screw out no problem but as I have the superbly machined replacement it went on as well. Looks like the injector loom that's arriving tomorrow won't be needed yet.

You where lucky that the old drain screw came out in tacked most don’t
Great that the change of fuel filter (often forgot by the mechanics because it is out of sight and therefore out of mind) sorted the running problems
I’ve heard of many mechanics saying the A2 as no fuel filter because it is not located under the engine bay

Cheers. Paul

Probably the same "mechanics" that say there is no hydraulic clutch so there is no fluid to change......

Yep heard that one before as well
I think ‘mechanic’ is technically the wrong term for these people

Get a refund on the injector harness as from my own experience there won't be anything wrong with it, just the spade connectors will be a bit loose 👍

That looks very nice indeed, if I were planning on keeping Gracie I’d think of doing that myself; I manage to get the arches looking quite decent (a deep black at least) using a little wipe of danish oil however the finish is more glossy than it really should be. Do you mind saying what this set you back, and was it from a smart repairer or a proper body shop?
