A nice looking one too!

Ive never had wheel trims on a car and I'm alloy wheel obsessed but i really do like the factory wheel trims on the A2, I think they really suit it 👍

I just scrolled all the way down for that! :D Not a chore though, when the result is a picture like that 👍

Picked up my 1.2 from WOM and dropped off Tonka for a well earned rest and pamper having been pressed into service as my commuter since late November.

Massive thanks to Marcus and Rob @chumsofmanutd for fitting me in at relatively short notice, for the excellent coms and most importantly, for doing a great job on the car.

It’s a minor thing, but I can’t tell you what a difference it makes no longer having a screaming starter when you’ve got stop/start on your A2!

Cruised the length of the A303 up to Berkshire today, got a journey average of 67mpg from a cruising speed of 65-70mph mostly on cruise control apart from the undulating bits.

Not sure if the fresh oil and filter helped - might have been placebo effect but I’m sure the engine now sounds quieter! I think I’ll stick to 7500 mile oil change intervals from now on.

Filled up with the odo bang on 600 miles travelled on the last tankful with 42 left on the CDIS - worked out to be just under 63mpg overall in that mileage which suggests the car is in rude mechanical health. It took 43 litres up to the neck with the burp toggle, including 50ml of the Millers additive.

Interest piqued, I had a rummage through the offerings on ebay. I was looking for a good visual match to that dull green moulding with lots of glass fill evident, a crisp brass pressing (not polished) with engraving on the rim (but not the VAG part number or name) and Luxembourg as the country of manufacture. I found this:

Does that say Luxembourg on the white label on the top of the box, partially obscured by the brass bit of the sensor? Does the black clip on yours have ">PA6.6-GF30<" moulded on the side of the clip that's can't be seen in your photo? 30% glass filled polyacetyl 6.6.

Beru have definitely been OEM supliers for VAG parts before, so this could be the same item.
That's what I have fitted to my black one from same seller been spot on for 2 years now

Today I got my white Tdi back from the garage after getting some mechanical love carried out. Timing belt and waterpump, full service, thermostat and temp sensor, injector seals, O/S outer CV joint and new discs and pads on front.

It's definitely feeling and driving a lot better but the next job will be suspension and bushes.

Such a superb looking motor, no good for me thou as a wouldn't want to leave it anywhere without its own security detail!
Do you have an issue with the injectors?

No they've been perfect but it's now done 155k so decided to get them replaced as PD injector seals are prone to cracking and letting by once the car's done over 150k

Great looking A2. Totally the opposite side of the modding spectrum to my own. Yours looks very modern and could be a 4 year old car.

What suspension mods do you have planned?

Cheers Steve 👍 Nothing OTT just Sachs shocks and fitting kit, Febi top mounts/droplinks and Spax 25mm lowering springs

Never heard of seals failing unless the injectors have been removed and refitted without new seals and bolts fitted (have run PD diesels for years without issues and my dad's Galaxy has covered 290k). If done correctly it's not a bad thing mind!

I work alongside a diesel specialist and it was one of the very experienced Techs at work that mentioned it to me so since the car was going into the garage for work I decided to get them replaced at the same time for all the cost of new seals and stretch bolts.

So finally I got some alone time with my A2:

1. Replaced the dog bone (fitted Lemforder 36324 01 - it is 100% identical to the original one) - I was hoping very very much that this will solve the annoying rattle - but it did not :( I have "taken good care" of all bolts I removed.
So it is 3:0 for the rattle - oil pump chain replaced, aux belt tensioner replaced, dog bone replaced - and no effect :(
2. Removed earth wire for the starter motor - it was corroded at chassis side (the car started well before this, but it could start better) [I hope person that designed the place for the chassis connector will have a special place in hell].
3. I have added additional earth connection for the wiper motor (this was a preventive action) - and here I am most surprised - the wiper is now moving noticeably faster ... (the grease there is vaseline).
4. I have greased wiper linkage mechanism - just to let it work better.
