Today I.....

New LED (Osram) W5W bulbs in the parking lamps. New on left, old on right. Much brighter! (Not really “today” but recently)

I think LED bulbs make the A2 look 10 years newer. And since it already looks to be from the future…
I've got all LED bulbs at the front of my A2 now and Internally. Waiting for rear bulbs to arrive. Only the front and back indicators will be filament bulbs in the end, just because I want to avoid the fast flashing (unless relay is modified). Really think they improve the appearance and the headlights are much better when driving at night, much improved 👍

I have modified relays and fitted them to my A2's, and much prefer the vibrant colour and brightness of indicator leds front and rear. They give far better warning of manoeuvres to others, especially in bright sun light.

In the future I'll probably look for a "spare" relay that I can modify. Don't want to mess with my only one just in case 👍

If you want one modified, pm me. Think I have spare bulbs too.

Thanks very kind of you to offer. To be honest I'm happy to have a go and always like to have a go at these things. Just want to have a fallback relay just in case 👍
Cheers Dave

After a week of 600 miles pretty much entirely on trunk routes including to Essex and back to Devon (my wife), then to Maidenhead, Croydon and back (me) - neither journey being undertaken with economy in mind (70mph crusing in my case, I suspect my wife would be about the same) - I filled up and did the usual calc and couldn’t believe it: 69.91mpg over the tank! In these temperatures too!

What a car! It just keeps doing its thing, I’ve only had to top up the oil once in the 5000 miles since the last service too, meaning it’s using far less oil than our modern family bus with half the mileage on it does. This marks the 40k miles mark since ownership too.

Today i travelled down to Horsham to pick up a set of the 17" alloys that i fancied for my car from Ami. He also supplied a genuine unused Audi space saver and mounting bracket for me as well as other odd bits that are missing from my car like the wheel brace and centre extraction hook for the wheels along with couple of the dampers for the rear hatch and 4 security wheel nuts along with the key that he very kindly threw in for nothing. I had a very enjoyable couple of hours talking to and learning from him and was impressed by his absolute enthusiasm for, and depth of knowledge about, A2s. I am now even more overwhelmed by the A2 club; from one post Ami has already sorted out the missing bits and pieces for far less than i was expecting, and the complex electrical work on the dashboard that i mentioned in passing in the same post is already quoted for ( again at a lot less than i was expecting) and going to be done at some point by Tom who contacted me after reading the post. To top it all off the car ran perfectly and was a pleasure to drive despite the atrocious weather.

No doubt that A2 ownership without the A2OC community would be a far more challenging and infinitely less rewarding experience. Whilst exceptional and unique vehicles in the breadth of abilities vs purchase cost they offer, A2OC is a very big cherry on the cake for sure.

Today I (well earlier in the week) fitted Pepperpots (thank you @dr_jones) with 175/60/15 (81H) - so much more comfortable than the 185/50/16 SE wheels I was using
I'm running pepperpots with 175/60 81H falken tyres. The ride is variable depending on tyre pressure. 2.6 bar is too harsh (but good for economy) 2.2 bar seems good. What pressure are you using?

Hi @JHB

I’m got all four (continental ultra contacts) tyres at 30psi (2.06 bar) - they seem fine.

2.2 bar front (32psi) and 2.1 bar rear (30.5psi) should see you about right but you're not miles away and can experiment a little and see what works best for you and the car 👍

Today I had new, all-season tyres fitted to the car. I decided to buy another set of rims and found a fairly nice set of "pepperpot" rims at a reasonable price not far from me. This way I can swap wheels for myself in spring and use up the one or two summers of life left in the summer tyres I got with the car and it also gives me an opportunity to have the original 7-spoke wheels restored a bit.
I will have to find center caps to really complete the new look.

After a bit of a to do list from a Failed MOT I have been busy rectifying things. 4 new tyres so they are all as they should be. 2 matching rear coil springs. A new front drop link as the previous had some play. Repaired hole in exhaust with Gum Gum paste and reverted the headlight bulbs from dodgy Xenons back to legal bulbs.

Ready for the retest tomorrow.

Centre caps are available brand new from Audi Tradition. I bought a set to keep in stock for when they are NLA and I need some!
