Today I.....

Today I collected my A2 from Stealth Racing. Wishbones replaced, although Vince forgot I asked for cast arms and fitted instead new press steel ones. The new pressed steel have been painted with an extra protection layer (Por 15), so good for another 15+ years. Apparently my original 2004 wishbones were badly rusted. No surprises there...
Overall health check (passed with flying colors), tracking+wheel alignment and throttle body alignment.
Car drove back to London like a dream.

I was wondering when this one would make an appearance Jeremy ;) Guess it got an MOT then ? Looking good, scrubs up nicely - hope these are just teaser shots and there's much more to come?

Not quite what you think there, I transferred the registration to BB, but... Plans are afoot for the "other" car to which you refer ;) Watch (another) this space!

Today I decided to take of the front bumper on the spare A2.
Look at what I found...........o_O

lucky for me I had one and also a front impact bar as well, job done.

Absolutely no other damage was done, just the tiniest mark on the front Rad but no damaged fins.
Obviously they had changed the bumper, from a 53 plate , this one is 54.

Had someone flag me down at the lights to tell me his misses likes the car or something? I couldn't really hear the guy.

Does this happen often? Only been driving it a week and I don't know if they're taking the piss or actually like the weird little car.

Spat my tea out laughing at this just now. Just brilliant. Welcome to the wonderful world of A2s @EamonnDH enjoy your car.

Do you have info about new pressed steel wishbones, or where they can be purchased?

Have forged ones on the shelf now (from my old damaged/write off ATL) ready when required, but I was looking for new ones of pressed steel, because of the ability to change/separate ball joint and I suspect they are less of weight too.

For now my AMF has currently pressed steel ones which are still in good condition.
Couldn't find them new though...... Or has Stealth a batch (nos?) in stock?

Not sure where Stealth found them. They are OEM, can’t remember if Lemforder or TRW. Vince at Stealth made the same point re the interchangeable ball joint. In terms of weight it’d be nice if they were a tad lighter but I guess it would be rather marginal.

Today I went to see which heat shield was rattling this time... I had planned to go under the car this summer but a new rattle has forced my hand. It was freezing!

Found the shield over the back box had dropped on all sides and was resting against the metal. Some very large washers fixed the back but those studs on the fuel tank were just rusty spikes. The ‘nuts’ came off as dust with just my fingers. Too cold for epoxy so I made some large aluminium ‘washers’ about 1”x3” and used gorilla glue to hold it all on. Some cable ties at the end to act as a ‘nut’.

I did see if I could maybe re-cut a thread on the studs but access is so poor.

Definitely a job to have another look at in summer. Hopefully this holds until then...

Available at audi dealer, at least was this autumn.

@Joga , Thanx, totally forgot about this option.......... but I'm worried that it will cost about 1/3 of what my a2 is worth, so I'm better off with the forged ones I already have I guess.

Today I fitted a new temperature sensor and pipe junction in the hope of finally curing the coolant leak..... what a **** of a job that was, never again! Topped up the coolant, started the engine and........... drip, drip......drip drip........
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Today I (yesterday actually) had yet another cracked screen replaced on my A2.
Took the opportunity to reduce the wipers screen cracking capability with a terminal cap from a MN1604 battery and a length of fishing line:
