Today I.....

I’ve been so Impressed with the rug doctor we hired to clean our rugs and sofa my wife and I have resolved to buy one and do a six-monthly wash of all carpets when we get back in the country - one rug we did seven times and even on the last run, the amount of filth pulled out of what seemed like an only mildly dirty rug using just a mild biological detergent was absolutely unbelievable!!

The particular model of rug doctor we rented had a great handheld attachment that would be ideal for car seats and carpets.

Alison is treated to this annually; with a "Platinum" cloth interior, this is necessary! ?

Today I decided it was time to clean the seats of my A2 more thoroughly. Even though they didn't look too dirty the water that came out from the cleaning was quite dark. So now is my sprint cloth looking much nicer and cleaner :)View attachment 67770View attachment 67771

What cleaner are you using there? I really need something a lot better than the one I have now (an upright Vax with hose attachment: awful thing in all regards).

It was a Kärcher Puzzi that I used to clean the seats. I must say that both me and my friend were really happy with the result after cleaning our car seats.

This was actually Wednesday, but hopefully that's close enough ...

(Sort of) Today I ... collected a car for @A2Steve from Poole, marking the first 130 miles of my day. Most likely a breaker and if so, few will mourn its loss, even me. Still, it started and ran onto the trailer nicely enough. I seem to get very lucky with my skies ...

After that it was off to Chez Steve in Wales, so another 182 miles ...

... to drop the silver one and collect the recently advertised Cobalt blue one. In the end we did a trade deal between us as the work it needed before retail was beginning to look as though it might take more of Steve's time than he could justify. A fair deal was done, and here we are ...

... finally, all ready for return leg to Sussex, some 230 miles away.

That's quite a few miles, esp as I'd returned from the boat fairly late the night before, so another 180 miles there as well. Morning after was the last bit for the trailer as I collected a 911 for major surgery. Trailer now tucked away for a while. Probably.

I've put the A2 into my name (rather than into the trade holding pattern option which adds no owners). I have briefly driven it: update to follow at some juncture. Ultimately though the overall plan is to get one of the FSi's properly sorted, ditto this and then back to back them. One stays, one goes. The plan is to end up with one A2, but whether that ever happens I don't know. I seem to have ended up with eleven cars which is bonkers, so there's going to be a major sell-off in the next few weeks. You can, it seems, have too much of a good thing ...

OOh, that is posh! Just looked at the prices. Even so, I'll see if I can track one down as I really need to upgrade what I have at the moment. The nature of the day job means even with seat covers, keeping my interiors clean is an ongoing task. Let alone any buying / selling that might be going on.

Thank you for the info ?

Thank you very much for the collection on the silver car from Poole @Rusty911 . I’m not 100% on it being a breaker yet, I certainly haven’t got the time at the moment to sort it but it’s teetering on the edge if I can find some decently priced panels for it (ps topping up the oil quietened it down).

No problem ? The machine is quite expensive so it can be hard to justify the cost if you just clean a car once a year. That is why my friend rented it. I think the cost was appr. 30€ for 24h including a bottle of special soap. We managed to clean 6 different cars and on sofa back home during this time.

I went down the Frankengeorge route (see this guys post on Detailingworld), using a Screwfix Titan wet-vac and a Numatic George spray nozzle attached to a hose. Works well.

Pic of the water after cleaning the front drivers mat here.

Need to start putting A2OC cards on wipers ???????
I was thinking the exact same thing this morning when I spotted a black FSI Sport with OSS, red leather and the rare 5-spoke SE wheels in my local Waitrose carpark - and not for the first time (the thought or the car). On the back, I'd have put my number and 'if you're thinking of selling ....' :D

I even have some cards in the old A2OC logo with the merchandise stocks. Anyone I've sent a set of window stickers to will have received a couple, I use the cards to prevent the paperclips from marking up the stickers but still keep them together in transit.

I ordered my VCDS lead for some proper interrogation with the VCDS lite program ?
I hope when you get it you will consider joining the VCDS register of members offering free scans to members :).

I would upgrade (£75ish) to a registered VCDS Lite for more functionality including AutoScan and that's all you need to offer a comprehensive scan to fellow members, no expertise necessary or expected.

Andy... Probably once familiar as doesn't seem to be many members near or in Herefordshire ?

My replacement fuel filler cap turned up today. Nothing wrong with my existing one save for the cable being a bit frayed.

Didn’t order the one suggested here that was on Amazon (delivery charge loaded the price), managed to find the exact same one Iittle more than half the price including delivery on eBay.
It may have taken 7 days to arrive rather than next day but wasn’t pressing so a non issue and some cash saved. Perfect.
