There may be something here that helps

Can you get dental floss or fishing line into one arm of the circlip, then pull on that to release it?

1.4 Petrol. The central nut is off but I didn't try a puller on it, I will do that next.

Thread on wishbones... there was one where we were talking about Lemförder vs TSW vs OEM vs Meyle. THis one, maybe, which has lots of links: https://www.a2oc.net/community/inde...abia-cordobra-can-i-fit-it.32101/#post-272126

Thanks Bret.

I do remember struggling to get the weight off my 1.4i. Was it that a puller wouldn't locate very well?

I'm sure in the end I put a sacrificial nut on the thread to protect it and using a small deep hammer on the nut, pulled hard up on the weight whilst almost vibrating the shaft with the hammer. I think that's about the time I knocked my front teeth out when the weight flew up ...

Got the rear axle back from the blasting and powder coating, new cylinders, pipes and bushes, flexis, View attachment 69301 all ready to start the rebuild

The old bushes came out very easily indeed. Have not got the new ones in yet though. W
What is the torque for the four bolts that hold on the stub axle please. Cant seem to find and answer.
See my thread on this subject.

Replaced the rear springs. Took about an hour and a relatively easy job. Interesting the different lengths of the old ones and the state of the bottom mounting rubbers or lack there of!

Thats the old springs? Whoever fitted mismatched springs like that should be shot.

Yep. It just goes to show that you can never take anything for granted. I thought it sat a bit one sided and went better round left hand bends!

Today I now have rear parking sensors in a non-PDC rear bumper.

Totally standard wiring, controller and beeper with standard sensors.

It was a two stage job, Tom (Timmus) worked his magic on the wiring, controller and beeper (fully configurable via VCDS).

Then Adam and Ian (Klynie) did their usual first class job of installing the sensors in the rear bumper. They had to do a bit of tweaking (which is their forte). They even replaced both rear wheel tub protectors the original ones had been modified for wider tyres.

Huge thanks to Timmus and Klynie for their top notch quality work.

@bretti_kivi could you get a ball joint splitter in the gap?
really tight.. anyways, I have the protector out but now can't budge the double-bolts holding the starter in place. I'm going to button it up again and leave this particular job for another time. The mechanic the car was going to go to on Wednesday seems quite interested, so I suspect an overnight with the starter out shouldn't be an issue. We'll see...

Looking very good Steve,

I had Tom wire my PDC kit in last week also. Soon as I’ve finished up in Scotland I’ll be removing my rear bumper to cut the holes for my factory sensors. Hope it looks as gold as yours.

Kind regards,

Tom

Not posted in here in a while...

So today I... fitted yet another set of wheels... Yes if you have followed me perviously on social media you will know this is Lyra's SEVENTH? set of wheels. Some of you might recognise this style of alloy because this is my second set of these beauties. vRS MKII's 'rare' wheels as they only ran on a certian year of the Skoda vRS and can go for crazy money but I found a set very cheap down in Leicester they do need a refurb but glad to have these back on Lyra!

Today I made up some stainless repair plates and used these to reattach the heat shields securely to the underside of the car.

Yesterday I spent a couple of hours sticking stainless bolts to the underside of the car with JB Weld to provide decent anchoring points.

Those points with something of a screw left I cleaned up and used a cable tie with more JB weld to held things in place.

I also used half a pack of JB high temp epoxy to encase the broken exhaust hanger and secured it with a stainless cable tie.

Hopefully no more rattles!

Today I see something on eBay that I’ve wanted for a while:

EAF473AB-AD04-443F-8CC5-E1E8B51DBB5C.jpeg

When I fitted TT pedals to my First A2 I enquires about these bespoke footrests but couldn’t find any answers to where they were manufactured.

I only come across this auction by a random search.

Does anyone have any information on where these came from and if it is possible to get more.

Kind regards,

Tom
