Today my little gem PASSED it's MOT with no advisories. It's the first test under my ownership so I'm very pleased :)
Had the timing belt and water pump (gates) done as well. Drives like a dream.
Shout out and many thanks to Ami for the Garage recommendation

Today I began the preparations for a full suspension overhaul. After weeks of parcels of car parts coming. Looks like it should have been done sooner as the rear right spring dropped out when I lifted the rear of the car up in the air. I don't want to think how long I have been driving with a big chunk of spring missing for... eek

Good luck, if your current setup has had it then the refresh will be night and day difference.

Today I got the dreaded Christmas lights on the dash; warning triangle! on the left red flashing warning in the middle and ABS light on the right.
I had both sides brake sensor cables sorted a couple of years ago and visually they look OK. I have had the brake pad warning sensor disconnected for some time, pads, calipers and disks and the drivers side bearing replaced last year.
Fault code shows:-

00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Right (G45)

003 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent

Time for a new sensor?

Today I finally got round to fitting the new headlight @A2Steve supplied me. I’ve been putting it off and blaming the cold and rain but actually it was really down to my dread at battling with the infernal headlight connectors. A specially warm corner of hell should be reserved for whoever came up with and signed off on that design imo.

Anyway, won that battle along with fitting the new LED bulbs and then promptly dropped my set of torx keys down into the undertray followed by my phone whilst using as a torch!!! ? I managed to reach my phone and fished the torx set out using a kebab screwer.

As ever, I managed to make a ‘simple’ job difficult but it’s done and I’m chuffed to be able to tick it off the list. I can now send on the headlight to @larax for his post accident rebuild. ?

Very nice indeed. I have similar damage to my drivers side. Twist Bose speaker cover AARs hard to come by. I agree, it’s thee whittle things that bits me every time I get in the A2.

Kind regards,

Tom

Agreed, super rare... I had to wait one year for the first set in twist (with some damage) and then another year for this latest set in excellent condition. Good things come to those who wait ?

Today I was lucky enough to drive both my German design classics in the glorious Spring sunshine. First outing for the 911 this year, and only the second for the A2. One was obviously a lot louder and faster than the other, but both performed perfectly. Today was a good day...!

Today I..... did as I use to do on Saturday eves :)
I log in to the Forum and read and enjoy all the "daily" happy miracles.... and then I get in a good mode and one have a good reason to smile for a week.....
.....one have finally found the Bose grill in correct colour and in mint condition :)
.....one have got a good advice for a decent trustable garage :)
.....one have got a good advice for a brilliant headlamp :)
.....one have said goodbye to the snow and polished his two diamonds to perfection... and finally taken them out for a drive :)

.....one have managed to perform 6 speed PTW box thread hole reconstruction with his TIG (and brilliant skills) despite the heavy skin chloride corrosion that would have stopped most professionals....

but not an A2 entusiast..:) ???:)

....that some of why one can smile for a week.... (at least) ?

I think ive got an intercooler on the shelf that is used but functioning. I could send it to you for a tenner plus postage (about £6). DIY fit it and then your Mrs can't possibly be annoyed at that expenditure :)
Steve:
have you still got this intercooler, I have a feeling mine is not quite right, thought may be change it for your one to see if it makes a difference.
you can add it to my glove box, grill/covers & post in one go maybe save a few pennies on postage.
Thanks,
Ami
