Track rod end/wishbone ball joints.

Got a good tip from a mechanic that's worth passing on.

If the grommets on your track rod ends or wishbone ball joints look a bit suspect (and your MOT is looming) then, if the joint is firm, i.e. no play, then you can replace the grommets. They are obtainable on ebay for pennies !! Carefully measure the diameters on each end of the grommets, and order the appropriate sizes on ebay, undo the joints, remove the old grommets and the clips, clean off old grease/grime etc, fill the new grommets with grease and fit them in place with the clip. Refit the joints. Finally, I always massage some vaseline into the grommets after they are fitted to prevent them drying out and cracking. This is a much cheaper option especially regarding the one piece wishbones which are not cheap !! I replaced those on my wishbones which are original and just passed the MOT.
