Trade-in haggling

I have a Toyota Corolla to trade in and I'm looking at a Volvo S60. So if I do this through the Volvo dealer, what sort of movement will the dealer be willing to give on a 2 year old S60 (say about £13-£14K)?

I doubt he will sell the Corolla himself, so I'll be at the mercy of what the Toyota dealer will give him (would I be better asking the Toyota dealer to buy off me for cash and cut out the Volvo-Toyota deal?).

If the Volvo dealer doesn't have the S60 I want he said he can source from within the Volvo used network-how would he be open to haggling on a motor he has just brought in from 150 miles away, and from another dealership.

Ah, the joys of car buying-I'm sure houses are easier.......

Ah, cars, just love 'em! Fancy an auto as sick and tired of increasing start/stop traffic (getting lazy) and after the twit who crashed into me last week, and then having an old geezer try to run me off the road when, heavens forbid I try to overtake him doing 30 on a 60mph road I fancy something a bit bigger and safer.

The dealer will want to make his margin, say 20%, on the car he sells you from somewhere. Either that will be directly in the price he sells you the S60, and/or from the trade in of your Corolla. My two-pence worth would be to sell the Corolla privately. It's more hassle I know but the extra money you'll get for it will be worth it. Then go directly to the Volvo dealer as a cash buying and haggle for the S60. You can normally expect to get about 10% off the advertised price I recon.
One step better would be to buy the S60 privately too.

But I agree on the huge hassle all of this is though. Best of luck.
