Anyone else having trouble with a metallic rattle from the exhaust system?
My 1.6 FSi had this rattle at 30 000 miles, and I was told it was the plates within the catalytic convertor coming loose. If you are at rest and gradually increase the engine speed there is a particular speed it will resonate at. Fortunately it was within Warranty (just) and this section of the exhaust was replaced, fixing the problem.
At 53 000 miles, and 2 years 5 months since replacement, I'm hearing it again.
I can put up with the noise (especially when £600 was mentioned as the Warranty claim!), but I think it presages an MOT failure.
Am I just unlucky?
