TT 1.8t 225bhp engine into my A2

Couple of updates today .

1. The standard engine mount isn’t going to work, so I am going to use a BAM TT unit .
2. Good news is the standard 1.9 gearbox dog leg lower mount is fine and just bolts up .

Now I have position for the engine and gearbox I can see that the main gearbox isn’t going to work in it location. Looking into the best way around this.

I am wanting to use a standard mount for this , so I am thinking that I will modify the original bracket of make a new one .

Not to much progress today, but have sorted the engine fitment.

Have to cut away all extra metal on original bracket location.

Just need to sort out the gearbox mount next.

So today I have been busy .

Worked out that the original gearbox mount wasn’t going to work, so I am using a 6 speed unit .

Have cut away both side of the original mounting points and started again.

Now just working on how low I want the engine to sit in the bay .

So today I can see why the other 2 Audi a2 with 1.8t conversions used a smaller K03 turbo .

Not to worry I will over come this problem.🤗

k04 turbo and manifold are a lot bigger and the turbo actuator isn’t helping.

On removing the standard actuator unit and fitting a completely different bracket and rod from a turbo I will gain about 2 inches .

But still think that I will re rerouting the Brake and clutch lines anyway in the future.

I so wish to one day witness this marvel of engineering 😃, I just can't imagine the power of my ST220 Mondeo in something as light as an A2, it'll be exciting to say the least

I built this about 10 years ago, and still have it.

Rover cabriolet with full 220 turbo running gear.

Makes 300 bhp FWD and weights 1250KG

As well as this which is Audi S4 B5.

The Audi makes 630bhp and is 4WD. Had this about 20 years now .

Enjoying following this build.

I have a stage 1 BAM in my Cupra R and that has an old school, spool up turbo fun factor, losing 400 kg off that, is going to make a very responsive A2.

This weekend I have been working on removing all the standard heat blanket from the firewall because it won’t be able to cope with the heat from a turbo .

Will be replacing with heat temp heat shield.

Have rerouted all the power steering lines and modify the bracket that holds the pump.

All installed now
