Tunning Box

I have just purchased an 04 tdi se and the first mod was a tunning box and i can tell you it makes a big difference and the cost was only 24.99 and fitted within 10 minutes:) :) :) :D

Be careful - a lot of these boxes are merely cement resistors which fool the engine into running rich and over time can lead to engine problems.

A much better, if more expensive solution, is to get a full re-map performed on the engine ECU - this is what I have had done and 2 years and 30,000 miles later, all is still well.

Cheers,

Mike

What sort of difference would this box make if its added to a chipped car..? Or is this a big NO NO?

You are joking aren't you?

Never, ever put one of these boxes onto an already remapped car - personally, I would say don't use one ever, but that's just my opinion.

Most re-maps take a car to its safe limits, but this will push things way beyond the design tolerances and you will have a broken A2 in double quick time.

Mike

Big NO NO then,, just curious.. the little boy in me needs to grow up.. still have this dream of winning the lottery and getting a new 3.2V6tdi which has been breathed on big time,, shoved under the bonnet and hooked up to a 4wd system on a DVG gearbox.. boy oh boy...:D

I too had this thought for a while, but then reality took hold - where would the driveshaft go, what about the space for the Haldex unit etc?

BTW, is there a 3.2 diesel engine available and if so, is it transverse?

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry for a late reply but I'm brand new to the forum. In fact, I haven't even picked up my A2 in Germany yet, have to wait another 2 weeks before I get it to Sweden.

But the concerne is not about the A2, it's about my A4 Tdi. I do have both chip, box and raceinjectors in my 1,9Tdi and it runs very reliable. Chip and box has worked together for about 6 years and the raceinjectors for about 3 years so I don't share your hesitating about using both, it works just fine for me. :)

I'm sorry for my bad English but it's pretty hard to explain yourself in a foreign language.

Cheers

A chip and a box would work together as the chip would add boost and fuelling and the box even more fuelling. However if you could just have the chip written in the first place to give even more fuelling like the addition of the box has added, most chips are written to overfuel to this much because of smoke issues.
