Tyre pressure question

Hi guys,
i did a search but did not really find what i need

I have fitted some 17" TT 6 spoke alloys to my A2 . The tyres are 205/40/17 and look great.

the car is lowered on sportec springs and KW shocks . Can anyone tell me what tyre pressures i should be running

2nd question ;)

Will the tyre weld kit stuff in the car repair a puncture to any tyre ??

thanks Mark

Hi Mark,

I run 205/40/17's myself and currently have the pressures at 35psi all round. This seems to offer a good combination of ride and I have noticed no signs of irregular wear as a result.

As for the tyre weld, I have no experience of the stuff being fortunate enough to have a space saving spare wheel myself. I should imagine that it will offer a temporary repair to any puncture suffered on the tread itself, but will unlikely have any effect to a shredded tyre wall regardless of tyre size. I may be wrong though!!

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Darren

When you ask about 'any tyre' I presume you mean any size tyre, as they do vary from model to model.

If that is the case, then the answer is yes, as there is more than enough gunk in the bottle for even a 225/45 R17

If you mean any type of puncture, then the answer is no, as rips, tears and holes over about 3mm cannot be bridged effectively.

In any event, it is only a get you home solution and any puncture should be repaired as soon as possible afterwards.

Cheers,

Mike

thanks for the replies :)

yep, i understand the tyre weld is a get you home solution only just wasn't sure if it only worked on specific tyres, makes etc

Must get a spacesaver i think , what size should i get to match the rolling radius i have at the moment
