How many miles are your tyres lasting, and what tyres exactly do you have fitted at the moment?

all depends on our budget, for a cheap tyre I have found Landsail to be good, I got a set of 15" 195's for £100 plus fitting. they grip well, ride well and 10K miles in are showing little signs of wear, looking at the fronts I can see 30K out of them and likely 40K on the rear

I’m running the land sail uhp , 205 /45/17 , done just short of 15k miles , grip is a little poor when cold , but give good mpg , wear , looking like 35k for the fronts , and well over 45k for rears , good noise levels . My mileage is mostly motorway , with the odd thrash over fast back roads

I think the Chinese tyres have come along way the last few years the daughter runs sailun ice blazers all year round on her s3 Quattro now that’s a winter tyre has done for a good few years ...gets great milage ..yes I know it will be pointed out insurance void .actually no informed & accepted .

most of the big tyre manufactures have but money into chinese tyre manufactures which has brought up the quality considerably
I think I read that Landsail was in collaboration with Goodyear and I do seem to remember looking at the tread patterns of both and seeing a definate similarity
Of course the well know tyre manufactures will never openly admit to this as it will kill there sales of the premium priced tyres and replace with sales of much lower priced tyres

I am also happy to recommend Landsail as Ive had them on my commuter for 5 years. On my third set now. travel from Leicester to Lincoln, 62 miles each way every week day. I clock up 26k miles a year and have changed them just before hitting the wear marks on the front.

I ended up doing circa 50k miles per set. I am a frugal driver and don't breach the speed limits, generally set the cruise control to 60 mph on the A46.

I’ve not had any issues with grip, noise or economy.

A great budget tyre that lasts with no issues.

Kind regards,

Tom

I'm not going to comment on Chinese tyres..... I just daren't get started ?

All I would say is tyres are the single most important part on a car for me (followed closely by brakes) as they are the only part of the car in contact with the road.

It's very easy to compare tyres these days as the information on them including wet and dry grip, fuel efficiency, noise levels etc is readily available but the most important thing as far as I'm concerned is stopping distances which unfortunately isn't so readily available and in the event of an emergency could be the difference between life and death.

I would always go for the best wet grip rated tyre (A rated or closest to it) as at least then you have half a chance as any reasonable tyre should be decent in the dry and regarding mileage I personally would happily compromise a little on tyre life for better grip, safety and possibly longer life for me and my family ?

@A2Z although I keep an open mind on most things, I am in the same camp as you - I'm a premium tyre (Michelin / Conti where possible) guy.
