Undertray fixings - missing something?

A new under tray is £94.90. I got mine from Stoke Audi. I'm unsure where else you can get them from as some Audi dealerships don't seem to cater to A2s.

Any advice ...seems ns wheel arch bolt thread is gone and given this is needed how do I repair the thread in the chassis leg?

Morning

Had the same on mine , solutions are varied, but I choose to drill out the old bolt , and the chase the remaining bits of the bolt out with a m6 die / replaced the bolt with new M6 cap head , adding load of grease for next time ...

M6 may not be the right size , and more clue up folks around ?

I've got a similar upcoming issue with refitting the steering pump bracket bolt into the chassis leg under the left front wheel arch- the threads in the leg have completely corroded away into a larger diameter powdery mess that the M8 bolt simply won't thread into. I discovered a new one in the rivnut / nutsert family for me that is supposed to avoid galvanic corrosion that one could get otherwise - rubber rivnuts that have the upside of being re-usable when they are unscrewed and which should grip into the hole as well as expanding behind when the threads are tightened. I'm getting M5 & M6 and have M8 ones already, although for the latter I'll need to drill the hole out to a fair bit larger, so I'm starting smaller with an 8mm drill for the M5/M6.

Could these be a solution to your problem? Thinking about it they may also be a solution to my other half's car where the fixed threaded ends in the wheel arches to hold the sides of the new undertray are missing, so to secure the undertray fully I'm needing to do something similar.

Sounds good. I was thinking helicoil but cost and even getting the correct thread in place could prove troublesome. What is it specifically you have / are looking to get? Any links?

Thanks ?

GWR fasteners I've had things from before; these were new to me. I've now got a set of 5 each of M5, M6 and M8 rubber nutserts to trial with various M5/6/8 stainless bolts I had from rowing gear as well as various car bolts. The thing I like about these is that you get another chance - I always find the metal ones a bit terrifying (if very useful) simply because if you get it wrong and shear them off you need to do even more drilling out.

Looking to try the m6 inserts you listed here but I'm guessing the thread on original oem bolts wont ne suitable? These inserts look to have a tighter thread?

The original bolts are M8 - sorry I never saw your question. I ended up using the M5 one and an M5 bolt I had from a different project entirely as this was closest in size to the hole that was there with a little cleaning up - I couldn't get enough space to drill out to the much larger diameter needed for the M6 or M8. It's providing vertical support at best, but that's better than it was. After re-installing the inner wheel arches on both sides I am now a firm convert for plastic push-rivets (have bought more as well for other jobs) - and it is possible that these could also be a viable solution for the wheel-arch vertical extensions of the undertray - drill into the chassis-rail and use the push rivet to secure those pieces will probably be my solution now.

@bono05 - is this a heavy-duty non-oem part created specifically for rough roads? I note the increased 5mm thickness measurement in the one slide.
