So fizzy broke down about ten days ago with loss of power on accelerating….. and erratic Rev needle?? so for last ten days have been using the wife’s 1.4….. on the motorway eml starts to flash and feel as though firing on three cylinders.??. Going too use the van for next couple of days until I can have a look…. Thinking about ordering a couple of sets of coil packs as part of the deliberation ?

Weren't you waiting for VCDS lead?
Mac.

As my son said tonight….. you got a stiffie for an A2….. bought two and both broke down within three months…. should stick with the Saab’s they are more reliable….. he might be right.

The A2 is generally a pretty reliable car. What you have to remember when you buy used ( they all are ) that you are inheriting all the previous owners shortcuts, bodges and poor servicing. Don't throw in the towel just yet. Have the VCDS scan done on both cars, post the logs here ( after deleting the VIN numbers ) and we will gladly assist you in rectifying the faults. Some easier than others, some cheaper than others like everything.

Biggest issue with the FSI is being run even for a relatively short time on the incorrect grade of fuel. The other big issue is the intake flaps for which there are numerous threads on here.

All cars electrical power is crucial, a failed earth point, a broken cable, blown fuse tired battery all cause problems. A battery low on voltage can trigger all sorts of "failings and warnings"

By the sound of it you have 2 nice examples that are low on TLC.

The thoughts are my sons and not mine….. will sort something out for sure….. will be looking for a low mileage CS fsi next year?
