I maybe being thick here.... but....

On the old website when I logged in and read through the posts/forum, when I logged out it would automatically remember the last time I logged in and show me the new posts from the time and date when I last logged out.

When I login in now I get all the posts from the start of time as if they are all new and I don't like it unless the post has been added to.

Can someone advise please. I have tried clicking on the mark forums read button but it makes no difference all the posts are presented as new again when I next login.

Which page are you looking at where the posts are presented as new? The home page currently only shows latest posts, not unread ones.

Have you tried using this page:

Accessible via New > New posts or Forums > New posts

This page maintains details of posts that you have read. And the Mark forums read link should be persisted across sessions. If this isn't working for you, you may need to check that you browser allows sessions.

Thanks Ben,

I have logged in this morning an all appears to be as before. I tend to work my way through the forums rather than just go and look at new posts.

Just to confirm I need to click on the 'Mark forums read button' before I log out and this will keep the old posts as read unless someone adds to a previous older post?

Yep. Either mark as read, or reading the post will indicate to the system that you’ve read it.
