Urgent help needed please

I was about to change the temp sensor, but the thin black pipe and hose from the EGR, were in the way of unplugging the electric connector.
I wiggled it off the EGR, but when I tried to move it aside, it snapped off from the middle. Not happy at all. Freezing cold probably didn't help.
Not sure where does it lead or what does it do? Can I still drive the car? I appreciate any advice.

If it a petrol which I’m sure it is then this is just a air breather for the egr
Car will drive perfectly without it

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. Yes, it is a 1.4 petrol. That's great, as I wasn't sure what and how important that metal round thing is, which this was connected to. Cheers
