Neither of these claims is strictly accurate. The electronics for monitoring have been changed, and can only be read by more recent versions of VCDS than is required for the A2. These remain entirely the commercial property of Ross-Tech and nobody would describe them as cheap.

Unless someone comes forward offering the full fat VCDS, I suspect that you will be disappointed here. Your best bet for tracking down a licensed copy of VCDS is likely to be through local (rather than national) forums. And if all else fails, consider buying your own copy of VCDS.
