Vanishing Act!

Hello good people of A2OC,

My apologies that I've been rather absent recently. A few years ago, I started to have occasional difficulties with pain in my hands and wrists, which would invariably be worst when typing, using a smartphone, etc. More recently, the pain extended up my arms, over my shoulders, down my back, etc. As such, I've been off work for the last 6 weeks or so and haven't been online much at all.
I'm pleased to say that, after a few specialist hospital appointments, the issue seems to have been found: I have trapped nerves in my neck, which are tricking my brain into thinking I hurt in places where there's actually nothing wrong. Of course, a diagnosis doesn't cure the problem, but it's a start.
I wouldn't normally post about such things online, but I wanted to give you all an explanation for my absence. I have received countless messages asking for advice and/or my A2 upgrade/retrofitting services, but have often not been able to reply. I have also had public recommendations for my work that went without acknowledgement, which seems impolite and ungrateful.
Whilst I'm not yet back at work, I hope it won't be too long until I'm back to my usual activities. I'll do my best to get PMs answered and your A2s upgraded as soon as I can.

Many thanks for your patience and best wishes,

Tom

Tom,
Hope all goes well with your condition.
I myself suffer from raynards conditions in my finger tips and toes mainly the winters.
You have been missed by all A2OC members you being the guru in A2 cars.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
Regards
Colin

Thanks for posting Tom :)

As you know, here's hoping for a speedy recovery and love from all the family.

A2OC members - I think we need to have a whip around to get Tom an automated "call queueing system" for his services :) I can't begin to imagine how many messages you have received over the last couple of months that you have been unable to answer.

I can sympathise Timmus I’m going through similar only I’ve been told not do anything waiting on surgeon meeting in 3 weeks time ..the pain is/was unreal ..The drugs they have me on dont alow me to drive I’m out of it most of the time ...really hope yours sorts quickly my friend ..I’ve never sat around as much in my life ..?

Aye, take your time Tom and I /we hope it gets sorted. Maybe give yourself a diagnostic check using your laptop. See what fault codes come up.

That's really good news that there's nothing damaged, here's hoping they can now sort it out and stop it hurting. Wishing you a speedy recovery from that point of view but meanwhile, although I'm sure we're all chomping at the bit to get our upgrades in, the most important thing is that you have to feel ready to get back in the saddle. Happy to wait until then to hear from you, take care mate :)

Tom, no need to apologise. Look after yourself, and rest assured you have ALL our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Do not take this the wrong way, but try not to rush back. or arms or shoulders etc

Sorry to hear your news, but a diagnosis is a very good bit of progress when it comes to these things. Definitely a stepping stone in the right direction. Quite coincidentally it’s a year ago tomorrow since you were up this way doing your magic. Will add you to the list of those who we know are ill and pray for regularly. Take care. Neil

Tom, I hope it is a relief to know what the issue is. I hope your doctors are able to “untrap” those nerves.
All the best, Andrew

As per A2OG glad to see the end is in sight. I reckon if it didn't work we could install your brain into an A2 shell? Thinking robocop from the mid-80s? :)

Only jesting hope it all works out and you are back under an A2 soon.

Would it become self repairing then?
