VCDS for checking milage e

Do any of you seasoned VCDS users know if VCDS can read the milage from the CCCU /ECU.
I am aware that the said equipment can be swapped so would read the milage from the car it came from.
What I'm getting at here is checking the cars milage compared to the milage on the clock.

on a TDI yes, on a Petrol no.

yes. TDIs record some data - I believe it's running hours or so, not specifically mileage - in one of teh ECUs. See https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/EDC-15-Mileage.php

That is correct, but it must be CAN BUS cars. The few times I have done this it would only work for me with the engine running. Others have said never works with the engine running. All I can say is find out what works in your case.

Never had success doing this with vagcom on the A2 likely because it only uses Kline for the obd2 connection
I am also under the understanding that to read the Milligan from the ecu (not the cccu) it must use canbus from odd2

However if you happen to have vagcommander then that will read the mileage from the ecu
Actually it’s the km travelled not miles travelled
Expect it to be within +/-50 of the instrument cluster if the ecu and instrument cluster have never been separated (remember to convert the miles in the inst cluster to km)
