According to the manual, only the dealer can perform a VSI reset - you yourself can only perform a Fixed Service reset, ie. 15000 km / 9000 mi (or is it 10000 mi?)
My question is: what exactly is it that the dealer does? Does he have to 'set' the 50000 km limit (30000 mi) 'by hand'? Can he accidentally (or on purpose) put in 30000 km (20000 mi), the limit for petrol cars?
The reason I'm asking is that my 'mileage to go to next service' is now at 21300km (first recalculation after VSI maintenance), while the three times before, it was at 32300km.
I haven't changed my driving style at all..
Also, I notice that new Audis no longer have the 50000km/30000mi VSI for diesel engines, but only 30000km/20000 mi, like their petrol siblings.
I guess that, with profits on new cars diminishing, the friendly dealer is very happy to see you more often for maintenance..
