vw Fox

I have been trying to convince my daughter to buy hardhat72`s lovely grey 1.4tdi for when she passes her test.
Sadly she has decided on a VW Fox 1.4 petrol.
If anyone has any experience of one of these I would be grateful for any tips.

The Fox is the bargain basement car for VW. It was built in South America cheaply and it's low price from new reflects the overall quality. The 1.4 is the better engine to go for and I don't think there have been any reliability problems reported...it's basically a solid Polo engine Their low second hand prices make them a bargain but don't expect them to "feel" like a VW. They didn't sell that well which is why VW returned to the tried and tested Lupo formula with Up.

Dave articulates the position very well indeed. A2 underpinnings aside, the A2 as you know will have faired much better from a rot perspective and will offer her longevity over the Fox, in addition to massively better build and extra space. You know all of this, but with support here too, I'd try to master the art of sales and try again to win her over to the light-side that is aluminium. ??

Thanks guys, believe me I have tried but to no avail.
It`s definitely a Fox or a Polo, all down to looks I am sorry to say.
She doesn`t like the shape of the A2 and as her Mother has had one and I have had three she has had plenty of exposure to them.

The issue is nothing to do with the A2 - more that you and your wife owned them. I mean who, at that age, ever wanted to be like their parents?! :)

When the Fox breaks down / falls apart she'll come round.

Maybe.........
