WARNING wheels with new brakes

i am posting this here also as i think this is very relevant if you are going to fit aftermarket wheels, or if you are like me fitting new disks and pads after putting the new wheels on.
this obviously doesnt meen every aftermarket wheels
i have 17" aftermarket wheels, the inside edge that buts up to the disk is bigger than the outside edge of the disk.(where the bolts go through, if that makes sense)
therfore now the new disks and pad combo are thicker than the old worn combo the wheels are rubbing on the pads itself.
this is a warning if you are fitting aftermarket wheels.
for example, the standard 15" and the disks where they but up are 5.5", my 17" rs8 reps are 6" in diamiter, leaving a 0.5" overlap that touches the thicker pads.
NOTE.... IF YOUR BUYING AFTERMARKET WHEELS MAKE SURE THIS PART IS THE SAME AS ORIGINAL 5.5" (dont know what this part on the wheel is PCD, OFFSET etc so can someone fill me in on this)

Amusing.

Arr my good man, I to fitted new pads and disks whilst my rs8 reps were being re-furbed. put them on this saturday to go to leeds and its sounds great! plenty of griding on the calipers! Looks like my SE's are going back on! Also Ry, check the insides of each of your front tyres....

my tyres are ok, its just where my wheels are bigger than the face of the disk they rub the new thicker overlapping pads.(my old pads and disk were probably 10cm thinner) looking into some maybe 5mm spacers to bring the wheel out off the pads, if this fails i'll be looking into some genuine ones.
