Water leaking thru the pollen filter

Haven't used the A2 for a while, so its been parked up outside the house. Last night, I opened the boot to put something inside and thought lets check it still starts. Started perfectly no issues at all, then whilst sitting in the drivers seat, I could hear water dripping loudly. It was coming from underneath the glovebox.
Today I removed the glovebox to check where it was leaking from. The pollen filter housing seemed wet, so I opened it and removed the filter. It was full of water, it only seemed to drip water when the climate control was on. It stopped when it was switched off. I decided to take the bonnet off and check the expansion tank, the bonnet was really heavy cause it was full of water. I have had 3 A2’s now and never ever had this happen, must of been all the recent heavy rain we have had. I emptied the water out and noticed that the bonnet has 2 drain plugs, these where blocked completely with sludge stopping anything escaping.
I have removed the bonnet so many times and totally never even noticed them, spent a bit of time cleaning them and put everything back together. Fitted a fresh pollen filter and even fixed my broken glovebox, and the car is perfect again.
I really thought it was the end of the road for my A2,

If you have never noticed these before, you probably have not noticed the ‘cups’ that the sit beneath the drain spigots . Check that these still sit beneath them as the problems caused by the one above the gear shift tower being out of line are considerable!

As a precaution, I would remove the new pollen filter and reach into the blower motor and spray the hamsters wheel inner end with the straw on the WD40 can to remove any moisture from the inner bearing. These do seize up and moisture in the bearing is very probably the cause.

I did notice the cups, an was wondering what they where for actually. Saw some pics online an worked out what they was. Thanks for the advice tho, it’s appreciated

I remember having to replace the blower unit a while ago, it was annoying to say the least. Still have the scars on my hands lol.
I will give it a spray with some WD40 before I refit the glovebox

Have you driven through deep floodwater recently? I have and for a while afterwards experienced water dripping out of the pollen filter casing just as you describe. The car has now completed a couple of 3-4 hour journeys with the aircon on and the issue has ceased.

The car hasn't been driven, just sat outside my house. The recent heavy rain must have caused the issue, plus the drainage outlets where all full of sludge which couldn’t of helped.

If the cup over the gearbox tower gets displaced the water from the spigot goes straight down the gear change tower and water can end up in the gearbox. Early symptoms (or not early enough) is stiffening up of gear change
