Hi there, all, this is my first real post on here ; have had my 2005 FSI for several months now, but prefered to read as many threads as possible on here, rather than just firing off dumb questions at random to solve issues, but this one has really got me confused, so I'm searching advice from the many experts that there are on this forum.
Earlier this week, I loaded & securely fixed a trolleyjack into my luggage compartment & drove to a friends house & parked up ; the detector was working perfectly before I drove off.
Did some work, loaded the jack back into the boot, tried to start the car & it would rapidly turn over, but no sign of life from the engine until cranking for about 20 seconds or so then it fired up & ran smoothly. Selected reverse & the detector went crazy ...... beeping away all the time plus intermittent continuous beeps. Selected 1st gear, drove home as normal without further issues.
When home, switched of & restarted several times without issue, but selecting reverse still drove the system crazy !! For info, the reversing lights come on as normal & the system is not an after market fitment.
I do have other electrical related issues with the car, but am not in a position to work on the car at the moment, as I recently had a hand operation, which I should be recovered from in the next few weeks.
Many thanks for any opinions ? ideas about what has caused this issue.
